Only downside is that the room was a bit dusty, likely from ventilation issue; not due to lack of cleaning"

"The hotel is about 600 meters away from Yamagata Station (you have to go through the underground tunnel to get there). It is the only hotel near the station that has a hot spring pool. After checking in, there is a Welcome Bar next to the counter, which offers a wide range of coffee/beverages and alcoholic beverages. The room is small but has everything you need. There are also accommodation supplies on the first floor, with various types of pillows for you to use. There are also three sets of washing machines/dryers (each costs 100 yen), which is really convenient for long-term travelers! Although there are not many types of breakfast, the taste is very authentic. It is only served until 9 o'clock. After 8:30, there are fewer people eating, so some dishes (such as bread) are not replenished. It is recommended that guests take a seat early to enjoy."

"The hotel staff provided wonderful service. I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the restaurant staff, who served us with such attentiveness and care that it was truly heartwarming. The transfer drivers and the staff in the reception area (ski storage and equipment drying) deserve a high rating for their attentiveness alone! Overall, the hotel is quite old, yet neat, but the furniture, appliances, and especially the bathroom fixtures are all very old and leaky. The hotel's location has several advantages: the ski slope is literally 100 meters away, practically ski-in/ski-out, which is incredibly convenient! If needed, the hotel also offers a shuttle service to the ski lifts. They can also meet you or take you to the bus station. Logistically, it's very convenient from Tokyo: take the Shinkansen to Yamagata, then a bus to Zao-Onsen. The hotel has its own onsen with a hot spring; it's also very old and in need of renovation, but overall it's clean. The water smells of sulfur and it's nice to soak there after a day of skiing."

Another advantage is that the hotel provides some covered parking spaces, so you don’t have to clear snow off your car in the morning. Initially, I accidentally booked a room without dinner included. I tried emailing the hotel to request adding dinner, but unfortunately, I did not receive any response. The room has a private hot bath, but you need to fill it yourself with hot water. The room size is relatively small, and the condition feels quite old. Overall, compared to the very high room price, I don’t think it offers great value for money."
