"We booked a suite with a sofa in the living room for playing cards. The overall decor and cleanliness were quite good by county standards, and the room was a reasonable size. The downside was that the hotel faces a street, a road with heavy traffic at night, making the noise quite noticeable. Of course, the hotel owner had called us on the day of check-in to let us know about the street frontage and the noise. I didn't think it was too serious at first, but it was actually quite loud, so I brought earplugs (they're included in the hotel rooms). Light sleepers should exercise caution."

Aranya Ranya Hotel ★★★★

"This hotel is great! The design is beautiful and the bed is super comfortable. You can even try your hand at making wagashi (Japanese sweets) or matcha. The hotel's location is really convenient for getting around, and there's a singing bowl healing center right across the street that's incredibly soothing – very hypnotic! I didn't get a chance to try the public bath this time, but I'll definitely check it out on my next visit."

Jinjiang Hotel (Chengde Xinglong Cultural Square) ★★

"The front desk service was great, and the room was clean. There's also parking available. My only complaint is that the breakfast dishes were too salty (typical of northern Chinese cuisine with its heavy oil and salt)."

Warming Moment - Self-serve Noodle Bar: We went late and were able to enjoy instant noodles from the buffet."
