"My family and I stayed here and we highly recommend it. Lorraine is very hospitable and made us feel comfortable and at ease in her establishment, she was also very quick to respond to any queries we had before our stay. The family room was clean, comfy and met all of our needs. The bed itself is very comfy, we slept so well. In the morning we helped ourselves to toast, juice and a pastry from the breakfast bar outside our room in the morning. Parking was not an issue either, the walk to the main bit of Whitby was about 20 minutes and yes there is a bit of an uphill walk on the way back but we didn't struggle with it. Would definitely stay again."

"Because of a misunderstanding of the vehicle parking facilities at the hotel premises and that our vehicle had to be park some long distance away from the Broomfiel Hose in a unsecured area on the street we decided that the risk to vandalism was to high and so decided to cancel our accommodation however the proprietor was understandable about our situation and kindly agreed to refund the full payment that my wife paid for the 2 nights accomdations."

"I booked 4 nights at Kimberley House at the beginning of August. The hotel is situated at the top of Skinner Street, with the entrance on Havelock Place, a 5 minute walk from Whitby’s famous (fibre-glass) whale-bone arch. Skinner Street is lined with attractively-fronted independent businesses, and there are several small bars, pubs, cafes, and restaurants. So, despite, the long uphill climb, it is not a bad location. I understand that you can even see the sea from one or two of the rooms, though it is quite distant. Despite the close proximity of pubs and bars, it is a quiet, and peaceful, location. Unfortunately, I was not able to meet either of the owners, Andrew and Rachel, as they were away on holiday themselves. However, I understand that there is no Reception Desk at the hotel anyway. I was given a code for the front door, which allowed access to the hotel. So far as I am aware, there is no curfew or anything, and guests may come and go as they please. For the most part, my stay was very quiet, and apart from seeing another couple of guests on my final morning, the only other people I saw were the two very pleasant ladies who prepare the rooms for new guests. I was quietly excited about the ‘Welcome Pack’ left for me near the front entrance, but this turned out just to be a rather disappointing A5 notice, something else for those wishing to park nearby, for an extra fee, and 2 keys, one to my room, and another for the front door. My single room, the only one at the hotel I believe, was on the first floor, and while clean, it is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It was very cramped, and uncomfortable, to the extent that if I had been able to arrange alternative transport, I would have cut my stay short. The room is ‘L’ shaped, and most of it is the width of the doorframe, except that part of this space is taken up by an open-fronted unit, for hanging clothes, and storing other property. There is also the bathroom door, which opens out to fill what little space remains. The single bed fits into the other part of the ‘L’, with a small bedside cabinet jammed in beside it. There is about 2 feet of space at the bottom of the bed, which, with some effort, just allows you to draw the curtains. There isn’t even space for a chair. There is, however, a small bin. The attendant bathroom is equally small, but adequate, apart from the sink, which is about the size of my hand, and didn’t allow me to shave, let alone fill a water-bottle. The shower was a bit low for me, but functioned well, and was easy to use. Hot water does take a long time to arrive at the sink though. There is a heated towel rail. The toilet seat was loose, and potentially very dangerous. I am sure the larger rooms are better. I did look to upgrade my room, but was unable to do so through the agent I had used.
