"Hotel Casa Higueras was our home for four days. Situated in the colourful old town of Valpariso overlooking the port, the hotel offers a wonderfully hospitable base for exploring Valparaiso and neighbouring Vina del Mar. The hotel has a great ambiance with wood panelled walls and large guest quarters, many with great views over the city. We loved the comforts of our room, the library, the spa and swimming pool and the excellent restaurant. Most of all we appreciated the helpful way that Amanda on the front desk helped us to reconnect with a cell phone my wife left behind by forwarding it to our hotel in Santiago."

"Casablu er et dejligt boutique hotel, meget ren. soveværelset og badeværelset er dejligt i størrelse, ingen luftkonditionering.Men der var en fan.Meget komfortable værelser, der er en smuk terrasse på anden sal, hvor du kan slappe af og se ud på en stor udsigt over bækkenet. Der er ingen elevator.Bedøvsen er okay, med æg kogt til din ordre. Hotellet er i en god position i Cerro Alegre-distriktet, som et lyse kunstområde fuld af barer og restauranter - men Valparaiso er meget bakke og en vanskelig gåtur, men da det var for meget Uber kom til redning. Vi kunne virkelig nyde vores ophold, og personalet på hotellet var fremragende, meget hjælpsomt, anbefalede restauranter og interessante steder."

"Valparaiso er en virkelig smuk bjergby, væk fra Santiagos fjernsyn, tilbage til en lille by som Uruguay-kolonien, folks skønhed er kommet frem igen, de små steder er væk fra de store byer, hotellet har også en platform, og de har tilbragt tre dage i den lille by med uforskammethed. Buss til hovedstaden.Det er en god ting. Hotellet er også meget bekvemt til turistcentret i Mountain City, gå 1 km, kan komme, og den smukkeste er lige her, Sandiago og Valparaiso er meget sikre på hotellet, kærlighed her! Bussen kan også gemme bagage, og du kan hvile på platformen.Det er et godt sted at tage af sted."

"This place was a true oasis! The décor is beautiful and thoughtfully designed down to every detail, and our room was even better than we expected. We had a larger room on the second floor, and it was bigger than our first apartment in the U.S. It faced the street but was incredibly quiet, which was a must for me. We arrived early, but Paula, the owner, was more than happy to let us leave our luggage and she recommended a few cute spots around town for us to explore while we waited. Her hospitality made us feel welcome right away. Breakfast was delicious and personally prepared and served by Paula herself, which added such a nice, personal touch to the stay. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It was especially perfect for me because I needed a quiet, relaxing place after traveling through Santiago and other busy areas the previous days. One tip: you definitely do not want a car in Valparaíso. Everything is within walking distance, and Uber is very easy for getting to and from the bus station. Highly recommend staying here!"

"A lovely elegant old style hotel set in a pretty part of Valparaiso. We enjoyed our stay here, finding the front desk staff (in particular the young lady who checked us in and was there in the afternoons) friendly and helpful. We were kindly given an upgrade from a junior suite to what had to be the best room in the house - and that was a very lovely surprise! The room was super, spacious, elegantly decorated, had a wonderful comfortable bed and had beautiful views from the room and large balcony. The homemade biscuits brought to the room each evening were a nice touch. We enjoyed a few quiet drinks on our balcony watching the sun go down each evening. Very nice shower in the bathroom too. The breakfast here was the best we had in our three week trip and 8 different hotels (including some very fancy 5* places). It was a fairly simple buffet but we loved the large array of delicious fruit on offer, the delicious bakery items and the loose leaf tea made me very happy indeed! If there had been a bar in house we would have made use of the beautiful lounge / terrace area - which looked very comfortable (maybe something for the hotel owners to consider?) but the hotel is an easy stroll to nearby bars and restaurants."

"This is the perfect place to stay when visiting Valparaiso. Located in the best neighbourhood (in my opinion) in the city and well priced. Perfect walking distance to great restaurants, cafes and shops. The staff is excellent and exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were spacious with a perfect view of the harbour and very clean. They have a car to drive you to and from your restaurant (if available) if it's close by, which is helpful if you don't wish to climb some of the steep hills in the area. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first evening, on the outdoor patio. The food was delicious, as well as the local wine selection, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was included in the morning with a nice selection of simple a la carte items or eggs prepared as you like. Only note, the coffee could be improved. The pool was a bonus overlooking the harbour. Overall terrific!!"

"Overall we had a really nice stay at Casa Vander. Location was great in terms of walkability, as it is super central and very close to great restaurants and right behind one of the many funiculars in the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions, and the included breakfast was simple but delicious. The only drawback to the location was that because it's so central, it gets very loud in the weekends with people partying below. The hotel itself is old and very charming but it could use some fixes and upgrades. The bathroom door didn't close properly, for example, and it's just a few feet from the bed, so not ideal. Still, had a great time though, so unless you're looking for a 5-star hotel, I would recommend this as a great funky place to spend a few days."

"This hotel is in a very good location. It has charm and character. The staff could be a bit better. The male at the front desk was the most helpful. We got there before 3 which is check in time and our room was not ready so we rested for a while in the hotel, then went out till 3. There are a lot of stairs at this hotel and no elevator. We had a nice room, however it was quite noisy and it wasn’t the hotel that was noisy, it was the surrounding area. Also. i thought the bathroom was a bit dangerous. We had a shower tub combination but with the piece of glass they way it was, was kind of hard to get in and out of it. I also don’t care to reach behind me for toilet paper. The bathroom seemed awkward to me. I would not recommend this hotel for a person that has trouble walking or climbing stairs. I didn’t find anything special about this hotel but the location is good."

"This place has great potential but is so bad we left early..The daily need to compete with the staff for the breakfast on offer is not pleasant. You shouldn't have to wait for staff to feed themselves from the breakfast buffet before you can access breakfast you are paying for. The wifi is very poor and constantly drops out We left before our booking was ended after talking to staff several times about the quality and the constant dropping in and out. This place was very noisy with staff yelling across the hostel at each other all day or playing very loud music. There is nothing on offer and staff don't actively let you know about anything other than the long list of rules. Minimal places to eat around area. The bathroom is terrible and the floors could do with a good wash. Not a pleasant stay"
