"Great little hotel. All rooms are just a few meters from the beach and very centrally located in the middle of the promenade. There are numerous restaurants and cafes nearby. One small drawback: Beach service doesn't start until 10:00. You can use the sun loungers before then, but there are no umbrellas available."

"First of all the service was beyond bad, it’s as if the staff never communicated with eachother. Upon arrival, we got asked if we were celebrating anything, to which we said yes as it’s our fifth anniversary, and they said they would arrange a surprise for us the next day. We finished our stay without any surprise or acknowledgment as to what had happened, it was just forgotten. They would ask us every day if it was our first time at breakfast, ask about allergies and so on, which on your fifth day at the hotel makes it feel very impersonal. The hotel is also very restrictive in when you can use their amenities, which is laughable when they have no direct beach access. Their pool only opens 11am-6pm, their bikes (which are in horrible shape) can only be hired 9am-6pm…it felt like being at a school camp instead of an alleged 5-star hotel. You are stranded on a street with nothing to do, no signal outside of the hotel, no free beach access and a whopping $40 to get to the town center (which is a 15min drive away). To put the cherry on top, we got called to our room on our last night asking when we would like our bags collected for check-out, they said it was arranged…and it never was. We also never got asked if we had a nice stay upon leaving, nothing. They truly don’t seem to care. Honestly, save yourself the trouble."

"Great new property. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy acolyte, and it was great to have an affordable option at the edge of town that is equally accessible to the beach. Room is comfortable, nice shower setup (bigger and better than what I expected at a Moxy) AC runs cold and is timed for room occupancy to save energy. Daily housekeeping is always appreciated The included breakfast was an unexpected treat. Table service with great staff (David and Emilio) and served until 11, this became my favorite way to start the day. I only regret not finding time to try the spa."

Dos Ceibas Tulum - Feel Good Hotel

"We were there over the New Year peak period and Dos Ceibas was a welcome respite from the craziness of Tulum. While definitely not a luxury resort it had everything we needed in the room and the beach was fabulous. We enjoyed the meals we had in the restaurant and there were a multitude of other restaurants to choose from within a short distance. A little more light in the room would have been appreciated and some soap in the hand basin but these are little quibbles and the positives far outweighed the negative. Great value and friendly, professional service made this a wonderful, relaxing beach break."

"Libelula was absolutely everything I had hoped for. The remote location is the absolute best. When you want to go out and connect with Tulum you can do so any time, but when inside Libelula you are in a cocoon of total relaxation.The beach front is lovely. We lay on the comfortable beds and enjoyed the ocean. The staff weren’t just great, they were cool people that you will miss when you leave. The cocktails Armando made were hands down the best in Tulum - he is an artisinal mixologist. George who runs the day to day operations was fantastic as well and created a welcoming and lovely experience right from the beginning. The dinners and breakfasts we had were excellent. Now onto the room. We had a room on the second floor overlooking to ocean and it was absolutely perfect. The bedding, the shower pressure and warmth - perfect. The constant breeze and the sound of the ocean all night were just magical. We split our stay with another hotel on the north side to have that experience, and the minute we arrived I missed Libelula and wanted to come back. While we love hanging out where we are ( enjoying the closeness to La veleta) the two hotels both on the beach don’t compare by a long shot. There is just something about the energy of Libelula that feels like home. ."
