"Our experience was sadly not great. On arrival, the kitchen windows were open and we heard the full extent of culinary blasphemy. Once seated, not offered water, other tables were. But, the view was fantastic and the fellow diners were on the whole nice, apart from a family behind us where the extremely loud father decided to educate his child in a high voice and she twittered on constantly as if in school. - Should there perhaps be a family area ? Starter of pear and blue cheese salad was very oily. Cream of carrot soup was very nice. Mains were a long time coming and then were wrong. Had to wait a further 20 mins for correct meals. Wine was finished by then,,,, no more offered and nobody about to get any. Mains arrived, forgot to ask for drinks.....steak and cafe de paris butter was superb. But, they forgot the potatoes which we had to ask for, they came about 5 mins later. Cajun chicken superb and would have again.... if we go back. Sadly, again we waited 20 mins looking at dirty plates and no wine or water. We left and went home for ice cream. Bit disappointing, I'm sure they can do better with the service and ambience. Didn't appreciate paying nearly £100 for poor service and a primary school lesson. Probably won't go back, shame, as not tasted a better cafe de paris butter and the view is outstanding."

"We spent a lovely night at Lochgreen to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday. It was a great location to mark this life milestone and made all the more special by the friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious with their own character. Nice varied sitting areas from the conservatory to the lounge area. Great food served by friendly engaging staff. Thanks to all at Lochgreen. PS Would highly recommend. Would add that during our visit there was a wedding party in a separate part of the hotel but it is arranged in such a manner that you are not aware of this function."
