"Reading all these previous reviews makes me feel like we stayed in a completely different place. We drove 6hrs and got to Matariki around 7:20pm to a seemingly grumpy male “host”, no welcome, no walking to room, no small talk. A second interaction on the next day of our visit was no better, would almost say was much worse as he snapped when asked a general question. The beds are fairly comfy and the room was clean but a bit dated, the towels need a good napisan and there were ants through the bathroom. We were in a back unit so road noise wasn’t an issue. The motel serves its purpose but I definitely wouldn’t be rushing back and especially not to the rude/not suitable-for-customer-relations male “host”"
