The lodges are gorgeous and built by the owner who's wife puts the final personal touch to the decor. It's wonderfully looked after. The swimming pool is stunning and an amazing place for star watching. After a peaceful night you are served a wonderful homecoooked breakfast with a local coffee experience. I wish we coud have stayed longer."

"Jeg kan lide balancen af fred og sjov. Placeringen er meget rolig hele dagen, hvilket gjorde mig i stand til at arbejde på min super slappe PC. Om natten, da du havde mulighed for at dele køkkenet blev naturligt givet at gøre venner med dem, som vi så gik på tur og praktiserede surfing på nogle nærliggende strande. Værelserne er meget behagelige, meget komfortabel soveværelse. Noget, jeg ønsker at fremhæve er varmt vand bruser, der ikke altid tilbydes i Costa Rica, og efter surfing en varmt brusebad er det bedste. Jeg kommer tilbage!"

"Pictures are not accurate AT ALL! Place is under construction. The pool is extremely small and dirty. Sitting area with fake grass and dirty loungers. The room description is not accurate as kitchen area is basically attached to the bed. Construction dirt and grime on room floors. We left bag there while we went and got lunch and booked somewhere else. I should have known as this property had No reviews. I truly believe that this was a house for rent on Airbnb but owner was so money hungry she turned it into a makeshift hotel so that she’s able to charge for each room. SOOOO GLAD We found somewhere else last minute"

Nestled walk distant from the beach and perfectly located, this cosy hotel offers easy access to local attractions and hidden gems. The apartment where I stayed was spacious, featuring two full bathrooms and two large beds in separate areas—a wonderfully convenient setup. Everything was immaculately clean and beautifully designed, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was incredibly warm and attentive, always ready with great advice on the best places to visit, dine, or even take surfing lessons with top instructors. Their recommendations made exploring the surroundings even more special. One of the highlights is the delightful French cafeteria at the bottom of the hotel—perfect for starting the day with fresh pastries and aromatic coffee. For those looking to enjoy authentic local flavors, there’s a small food market right next door, lined with inviting restaurants serving delicious regional dishes. Whether you’re seeking adventure or a quiet retreat, Mar Bontanico offers the best of both worlds. Its tranquil ambiance, thoughtful touches, and prime location make it an ideal place to stay. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!"

"We had read many great reviews before booking this property, but were a little apprehensive about if it would live up to expectations. Oh yes it did! The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming and the property is very well maintained. While lounging by the pool, expect a lizard or two and your morning alarm could be the howler monkeys. This property is centrally located allowing you easy access to the beach and town, but the gardens and pool offer pure tranquility. You can physically feel the energy change as you cross the road and walk up the path up from the beach back to your room. There are steps into reception, down to the pool, restaurant and into rooms, so consider this if not mobile. The breakfast buffet was delightful and the evening meal offered two starter, two main and one dessert option that varied each day. The room was big, comfortable, toiletries provided and strong Wi-Fi throughout, even on the beach. We thought this property was great value for money and thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
