"It's quite unique, with a bar downstairs. I happened to be there on Anzac Day, so the bar was packed. For check-in, you just go directly to the bar. For check-out, you simply drop the key into a designated slot. Given its location and price, it's a great option for solo travelers."

"I am usually not one to complain all that much if a hostel is not meeting my expectations but given the rating and price of this hostel, I feel the need to do so. The basic amenities of this hostel are non existent. I was staying in a single room with access to the shared bathroom. There is no hair dryer anywhere. There are no paper towels or tissues anywhere. The Rooms: the rooms are pretty small and have nothing in them except for a bed, nightstand, mirror, clothing rack and trash can. There is no heating. It was 8 degrees celsius when I stayed there and since they didn't bother to install a seal in the windows, it was also 8 degrees in the room. All you get is one towel and one thin blanket. If you want more you have to pay for it. Thankfully I had ski underwear with me that barely took care of that. It also didn't strike me as very clean. This was the first hostel in the last 3 months of continuous travel where I felt the need to use a liner while sleeping. Next issue was the bathrooms. I understand that it is not the hostels fault that inconsiderate people are staying there. When there is pee all over the floor and seats, the toilets are not flushed, shavings are left behind and some people simply seeming unwilling to clean up after themselves, you do not feel very sanitary there. But at the same time I feel that if there are issues like these, then you have to adress them. Up the cleaning schedule. But the issues that are exclusively up to the hostel annoyed me more. There was only one bathroom for a whole floor. It only had three toilets and one pissoir, for probably around up to 200 people. 2 of the four faucets were broken. The bathroom is set up in a way where the access to the toilets is blocked if someone is using the faucets. The only trash can is on the opposite end of the room, not near the faucets. There is no rack to store your soap in the showers. There are no hangers or shelves to lay down your stuff while using the faucets. Where am I supposed to keep my toothbrush when I wash my face? Certainly not on the spaces between the faucets, since they are wetter than aswampy! Another thing that was a little bit annoying, is that there was no access to the kitchen after 11pm. This meant that it was not possible to fill up a water bottle after that. Since there were people loudly talking and slamming doors at 2 am, I understand why the kitchen is closed at night though. On a positive note: the location of this hostel is awesome. You can walk to most places without a problem. Also the people working the reception were very nice. All in all I have to say that I don't understand how this is rated this highly and how they felt this price was appreciate. This makes me actually afraid of what lies ahead of me in Australia! I would everyone with an expectation of at least a basic level of hygiene and comfort to stay away!"
