"I was nervous about booking this hotel after reading the reviews, but went for it anyway. What a great hotel. We were on a motorbike tour and had been delayed en route, so arrived after reception was supposed to be closed. Not only had they emailed us instructions, but also stayed on later so they were there when we arrived at about 8pm. We didn't get the lady's name but huge thanks to her - we were tired and stressed when we arrived, so it made such a difference for someone to be there. There is parking, but just be aware it's on a hill which can be steep, so make sure you park accordingly on a bike! The room was fairly basic but exactly what we needed - an amazing shower, comfortable beds, air con, and space for motorbike gear. We were in an external block. The only annoying thing is that the bathroom light is on a motion sensor and is very bright, so if you need to go during the night it's quite blinding. We ate at the restaurant for dinner - although expensive, the food was amazing and delicious, and the waitress really friendly with great service. We had breakfast which was also delicious. We only had pastries and fruit, but it was lovely and fresh. We were offered eggs/omelettes. We will definitely stay here next time we're in Spa, perfect for what we needed."

"We stayed here for two nights at the end of March to attend the Laetare of Stavelot. I almost cancelled my reservation because I sent them two e-mails with simple questions (whether I'd need an extension cord for my CPAP, and whether we'd need reservations for the Thermes de Spa) in perfect French, and the emails weren't even acknowledged. (As it turned out, we were supposed to have reservations for the thermes, but they let us in anyway). I'm glad we stayed, because the room was comfortable (we chose one of the larger rooms), and the location is convenient. About 10 steps are required to get into the front entrance, with no ramp available, so the elderly or disabled should be prepared. The breakfast was decent, although they only told us on the 2nd day that we could have some eggs prepared. Unclear why it wasn't mentioned the first day. The other issue of which one should be aware is that check-in times are quite limited. If you can deal with the negatives, it's a solid place to stay, especially their better rooms. If they don't want to answer their emails, they could at least generate an automated response that the emailbox isn't monitored--or delete the e-mail address all together."

"I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but in this case… I feel compelled to warn you. A magnificent, beautifully renovated place that seems to offer a truly timeless experience… When you see the prices, you also think it's going to be a wonderful time, that you're not paying for nothing… well, don't go looking for that experience at the restaurant. It's a shame to have renovated such a beautiful place and opted for such a "cold" restaurant (see photo). You might say it's a matter of taste. And don't bother looking for anything else either… the service was mediocre; I've never seen anything like it. There were only a few tables for several servers, yet we waited over 25 minutes before getting a drink. We even had to remind the server that we had ordered a bottle of wine. Wine that you have to pour yourself; the waiters walk past your empty glass 15 times but don't bother to refill it. You also have to ask for everything... Ask for bread if you want it, otherwise it won't arrive before the appetizer. No oil, no butter, you have to ask for that too; basically, you have to ask for everything. The food... I didn't even dare take a picture because, presentation-wise, my 10-year-old godson probably could have done better. When you offer a certain price range in an upscale establishment, you have to offer a minimum level of taste. Honestly, the appetizer wasn't good, the main course was good but nothing special, and the dessert wasn't good. I couldn't believe it... and yet I'm not usually picky. The ingredients... honestly, the appetizer, which was cheese with mushrooms (porcini), tasted like Boursin cheese cooked with mushrooms; no, it really wasn't great. Anyway. We didn't want a coffee; all we wanted was to leave. Also, be aware that there's a parking lot, but even if you're a customer, it's not free (we paid €6 and stayed for about 2.5 hours). In short, I strongly advise against going to this restaurant; what a disappointment."
