"Vi blev her i to nætter i slutningen af marts for at deltage i Stavelots dag. Jeg aflyste næsten min reservation, fordi jeg sendte dem to e-mails med simple spørgsmål (om jeg ville have brug for en forlængelsesstreng til min CPAP, og om vi ville have brug for reservationer til Thermes de Spa) i perfekt fransk, og e-mails blev ikke engang anerkendt. (Som det viste sig, skulle vi have reservationer for varmene, men de lod os alligevel.Jeg er glad for, at vi blev, fordi værelset var behageligt (vi valgte et af de større værelser), og beliggenheden er behagelig. Omkring 10 skridt er nødvendige for at komme ind i fronten, uden rampe til rådighed, så de ældre eller handicappede bør forberedes.Frugt var anstændig, selv om de først sagde til os på den anden dag, at vi kunne have nogle æg forberedt. Det er uklart, hvorfor det ikke blev nævnt den første dag.Det andet spørgsmål, man bør være opmærksom på, er, at check-in-tiderne er ret begrænsede.Hvis man kan håndtere de negative, er det et solidt sted at bo, især deres bedre værelser. Hvis de ikke ønsker at besvare deres e-mails, kunne de i det mindste generere et automatisk svar, at e-mailboxen ikke overvåges, eller slette e-mailadressen sammen."

"Jeg var nervøs over at booke dette hotel efter at have læst anmeldelserne, men jeg gik for det alligevel.Hvilket fantastisk hotel.Vi var på en motorcykeltur og var blevet forsinket på vej, så vi ankom efter receptionen skulle være lukket. Ikke kun havde de sendt os instruktioner, men de blev også på senere, så de var der, da vi ankom kl. 8.00. Vi fik ikke damens navn, men takket være hende var vi trætte og stressede, da vi ankom, så det gjorde en forskel for nogen at være der. Der er parkering, men vær opmærksom på, at det er på en bakke, der kan være stejl, så sørg for, at du parkerer på en cykel!Værelset var ret grundlæggende, men præcis, hvad vi havde brug for - en fantastisk bruser, komfortable senge, aircondition og plads til motorcykelgear. Vi var i en ekstern blok.Det eneste irriterende er, at badeværelset lyset er på en bevægelsessensor og er meget lys, så hvis du skal gå om natten, er det ret blindt. Vi spiste på restauranten til middag.Selvom det var dyrt, var maden fantastisk og lækker, og servitricen var virkelig venlig med stor service.Vi havde morgenmad, der også var lækker.Vi havde kun græskar og frugt, men det var smukt og frisk. Vi fik tilbudt æg/omeletter.Vi bliver her næste gang vi er i spa, perfekt til det, vi havde brug for."

"The renovation of the hotel is absolutely superb. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. It’s a grand and elegant building. Unfortunately the standard of the restaurant lets it down. The food is not at all innovative and is bistro style at best. Bread was served haphazardly with some guests not receiving bread at all while others got it with the dessert. Although the restaurant was not full and there were plenty of staff, drink orders were very slow and abruptly served. One of the young women was obviously being trained but the other student staff wandered in and out with a vacant look, not clearing tables or offering wine. It was very hard to summon anyone’s attention. The meal itself was basic with no sides available and no vegetables. One would expect more from a 5 star establishment. They need a new chef and a menu to match the elegance of the hotel. The lime green and white garden chairs and tables in no way go with the otherwise sumptuous surroundings. I hope they are able to lift their game soon as the place has great potential"

"Unless there’s somewhere special I have in mind, I tend to have a habit of patronising the restaurant attached to the accommodation I have booked. At this stage I have only booked a single night in Spa. At dinner I notice there are no ashtrays on the tables. I ask if this is a smoke free restaurant. The waiter tells me that at the moment no one is smoking, but they are allowed to smoke if they wish. I ask if I can move if someone starts smoking. No! Once you sit down, you cannot move. {emphasis on the full stop} Okay, so I’m paying over $100 for dinner and if some inconsiderate wants to smoke and ruin my night, then I have to just suck it all up. After that conversation, the waiter now serves me without eye contact. The food is placed on the table, he utters something in French and briskly walks away. There is no explanation as to what is in the soup of the day. The table next to me appears to have ordered soup of the day as well, but it is a completely different colour. So did I get yesterday’s leftovers. To those who speak French he jokes and smiles – the ultimate shmoozer. In the French part of Belgium, no one seems to speak English. Not an issue – it’s their country – but the change from the Dutch part to the French part is interesting. I am now looked down upon for not speaking their local language. I get the whole language thing, but as an Australian coming to Europe for a couple of months, am I really expected to learn 5 or 6 differnt languages to make everyone happy. As to the waiter; his shoes are cheap; his pants are too long as he can’t be bothered taking them up and they are sliding down under his pot belly since he’s not wearing a belt. Yet somewhere in his mind he is above me in status without knowing a single thing about me. After both waiters ignore me for ages, he finally comes to collect my glass. He looks at me with raised eyebrows. There is no verbalised question as to whether I would like another glass of wine, more a disdainful look – he will not lower himself to utter words to someone less than himself. I request another glass and ask if it could be in a bigger glass, explaining that Pinot Noir needs to breathe – I was initially served a much smaller glass than every other table. Hmmpph. Okay He placed the glass on my table and walked away as quickly as he could with no eye contact. I raised my palms to the sky in exasperation as he walked away. He approached me a few minutes later and told me that his fellow waitress had claimed I was still asking him a question when he walked away. I explained why I felt aggrieved and he told me that he was sorry I had interpreted things this way. After dinner I walk across the square to anothet hotel who gives me an air conditioned room for 10% less for the following night. "

"Thierry welcomed us warmly and gave us excellent information about what to do in Spa, where to find the best spa waters. Parking is available and it’s a short walk into town. We booked the suite which was tastefully decorated and modern, no carpets, wooden flooring, which we love! The bed was comfortable with fine linens and we had a large balcony to enjoy. Despite being near the main road the room was quiet at night with the windows closed. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of breads, croissants, cheeses, hams, fruits , etc. We will be back to this lovely small hotel."
