"The hotel boasts a superb location; as long as the clouds clear, the main building's observation deck offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano. The staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The Wi-Fi signal is strong. 🛌 Accommodation Tips (Attention Light Sleepers): * The rooms are spacious, but there is no air conditioning. It can be a bit stuffy at night; opening the screened windows will make it much cooler. * The ecosystem is excellent; there are many wildlife calls at night, which may take some getting used to for light sleepers. 🌟 Two Must-Try Highlights: * The Nest (Bird's Nest Observation Deck): If you're not afraid of heights, you absolutely must climb up! It offers a true 360-degree panoramic view of the volcano, the lake, and monkeys and rare birds in the surrounding trees. 🍽️ Dining: * Dinner was satisfying, with good dishes. * Breakfast was relatively average, with limited selection. 💡 Travel Tips: If you have enough time, it's recommended to stay two nights and explore the surrounding nature trails or national parks. The chances of seeing the volcano in its entirety are usually higher in the morning."

"This is a barely discovered gem, a rare destination that will leave you with lifelong memories. We stayed here 9 years ago, and returned this summer. The rainforest location is unique. We stayed in a treehouse, with frequent visits from spider monkeys and seemingly endless species of birds. We partook for a second time the riverboat tour through the local rainforest, up through the Nicaragua border. We saw spectacular macaws, toucans, and numerous other bird species. We encountered crocodiles, circling vultures over cow pastures, a green river snake swimming at the town boat dock. We saw other monkey species hanging out in the trees, iguanas… But perhaps most memorable to us was the genuineness of the Eco Lodge staff. Many are local, and share with us their pride in their community. Their true warmth allows us to experience the rainforest, not as a visiting tourist, but as a proud local. The guides are wonderful! They are smart, engaging and passionate. Even on our return boat ride across the river to the parking area, the staff member took a slight detour to point out colorful macaws eating fruit in a tree on the riverbank. We came with our family, there were tourists of all ages, from young children to older retirees. Our binoculars and telephoto lenses got quite the workout! While we are not professional birdwatchers, the diversity was remarkable. And, we found fellow tourists to be grounded, appreciative of life and the opportunity. Thank you to everyone who made this a memorable experience!!!"

Boca Tapada Lodge

"Had a wonderful stay at Boca Tapada lodge. Our hostess Ericka helped us with all the questions we had. The bungalows are clean and spacious. The outdoor bathroom with a shower overlooking the river is fantastic. Only downside (and this is for all Costa Rica) are the mosquitoes. Especially during night and in the restaurant this was hard. Luckily they had bottles of repellent at the reception to help. For the hike we were guided by Silvia and although we were unlucky for not seeing much animals, this was totally compensated by her enthusiasm and all the knowledge she has about the animals and nature. We loved this excursion and rated this as one of the best we ever had."
