"My husband and I travelled more than nine hours from Mississauga, Ontario, to Rouyn-Noranda to attend my aunt's memorial. Because this was such an important family event, we carefully selected the Deluxe Loft based on the listing photos and description. When we arrived, the accommodation we received appeared different from the room and layout that influenced our booking decision. I immediately contacted Le Convivial at 819-762-3435 to explain my concerns. At approximately 1:00 a.m., one of the representatives told me that the bed was not a sofa bed and asked me to take a photograph and send it to him, which I did immediately. After reviewing the photograph, I was offered another room with a separate bedroom and living area—the type of accommodation we believed we had originally selected—but I was told that changing rooms would require an additional payment. By then, we had already spent more than an hour on the phone trying to resolve the situation. Throughout the week before our arrival, I had repeatedly explained that we were travelling to Rouyn-Noranda for my aunt's memorial and that having a smooth arrival was very important to us. We tried to sleep on the bed that was provided, but we could not. After a nine-hour drive and with my aunt's memorial the following morning, we had no reasonable alternative but to leave and book Hotel Albert so we could get the rest we needed before the service. I am sharing my booking confirmation, the listing photos that influenced my booking, and photographs of the accommodation we received so future travelers can compare them for themselves and make an informed decision. I also want to acknowledge that I usually read reviews before booking accommodations, but this time I did not. That was my mistake, and it is a lesson I will not forget. As a small business owner, I believe trust begins with accurate information and honest representation. That is why I am sharing my experience."
