"Situated within easy reach of Southampton and the New Forest Attractions, this venue represents excellent value for money in my opinion. I have rated it as an 4/5 for the following reasons. The bedrooms are in a recently built annexe, and my room was on the first floor. Access is by outside metal staircases, which were a little challenging for me due to mobility issues. Fortunately it was dry and the stairs were not slippery on this occasion. There are two ground floor rooms, so when I stay there again I shall request one of them. The room I used was sizeable and clean. The bed linen was spotless, and it was a very comfortable bed. However, it is a single and the duvet was a little narrow, leaving draught entrances when in bed. The full length mirror in the room was on the floor leaning against the wall at an angle and needs to be hung properly. The tea making shelf was loose on the wall and could not be used safely. There is no wardrobe, just a rail with hangers. The curtains were flimsy and let in all of the early morning light, which compounded the problem of the bright green LED light in the smoke detector on the ceiling above my bed which irritated me all night. These are all very easily remedied issues and should not detract from an otherwise comfortable room. The shower was excellent. Plenty of hot water at a good pressure. The pub has it's own restaurant, and I went for the fish and chips. The service was very slow, however the waiter was very polite and attended to all my needs, albeit slowly. My meal took an hour to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. Superbly cooked, a sizeable and really fresh piece of fish, and superb chips. I would say as good as any I have had, including the excellent Colmans in South Shields or any Harry Ramsdens. I ordered breakfast, an extra £10 which I thought was reasonable. It was presented well and very tasty, in particular the sausage. If the team address the issues in the rooms, I would happily score them 5/5"

"First time I’ve been to the newly refurbished potters heron after its refurbishment and what a lovely job they’ve done . Parking was easy and was served quickly at the bar whilst waiting for others to arrive. We were shown to our table in the beautiful restaurant. There was quite a good selection to choose from in the menu with some set menu offers etc. We ordered our food but unfortunately it was a very long wait for our food to arrive over 1 hr 35 minutes. We had to ask quite a few times what was going on and were told it was on its way but sadly we had to wait another 35 minutes. When the food arrived one guest had the fish chips and mushy peas but although it looked lovely the battered fish was so over cooked it with rock hard batter and with awful dry thin fish inside which was inedible and during that time nobody asked if everything g was ok. My meal was lovely the pie was homemade and delicious with creamy smooth mash broccoli and really tasty whole grain mustard sauce. Everybody else’s meals were enjoyed and at the end of the meal after letting them know that the fish meal wasn’t good they did remove it from the bill and didn’t charge for the accompanying glass of wine. But even though it spoilt our lunch, we will return as it is such a lovely hotel and the staff were friendly and 9 meals out of the 10 were lovely so will return to give it another go."

"Det er svært at skrive en helt objektiv gennemgang, da vi bookede denne indkvartering med ret kort varsel og opholdt sig i kun 1 nat i "chalet", der ligger i haven bag hovedhuset. Det er klart designet/tiltænkt til gæster, der ønsker (delvis) at passe sig selv i længere tid end overnatningsfolk som os. Der var gjort en stor indsats for at give alle faciliteter og udstyr til en sådan forlænget ophold, og indkvarteringen var varm, hyggelig og ren.Ejeren var meget hjælpsom og opmærksom."
