"I'd give the service at this hotel 5 stars because the staff are friendly and helpful. For a 1-star hotel, I'd rate the breakfast 6.5. The location also gets 5 stars because it's quite peaceful, close to street food stalls for hanging out, and not too far from the main road. The downsides are that the water pressure in the shower is very low – the sink has a stronger flow, lol. There's no AC or fan. Also, the staff can be a bit noisy when cleaning other rooms during check-out. This hotel is very affordable, has a quiet environment, and it's easy to find food. Maybe next time, the Ministry of Tourism could provide hospitality training to the hotel staff."

"We arrived as a family group after 3:30 PM, but some of the rooms were only ready for check-in around 5:00 PM, which was quite disappointing after a long journey. Upon entering the room, staff were still sweeping and mopping the floor, indicating that it had not been properly prepared prior to our arrival. The view of Lake Toba is beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of the stay. However, the private beach was very dirty and poorly maintained, which was also disappointing. Although the breakfast spread initially appeared to offer a wide variety, the actual options were quite limited. During peak holiday periods, the food was not sufficiently replenished, making it difficult to accommodate the large number of guests. This is an area that clearly needs improvement."

"ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED any people from Europe/North America, or Australia, or other civilised countries with higher standards and expectations of a 'bathroom'. We only stayed one night during our trip to Samosir island, but I would choose definitely another place to stay. The whole place needs a lot of renovation and maintenance. Standard room is equipped with a wall-fixed fan (noisy to keep it running all night), but pointless because the room was no possible ventilation, due the the fixed (not openable) windows. The bathroom is the worst thing ever in our tourist life experience. The worst public toilets next to the Eastern European motorways are better. No air suction fan, so humidity stays, mould is welcome. Toilet seat is not fixed (dancing under your noble body part when you try to sit down). You have an exact feeling, that you just don't want to even touch anything in there, because of uncleanness and unhygienicness. The bathroom door is a recycled door (someone trashed it out and this place got it from the garbage and built it in): size not fitting, can't be closed. The drain pipe was leaking under the sink, which was slowly but surely flooding the floor under our feet, while we had to wait(!) minutes for the hot water to arrive into our room... Okay, not hot, but warm enough to have a shower before sleep. The closet door was missing (Agoda photos shows that with door, but not here anymore). Reception ladies were pushing their phones, when dusty spider webs were present in every corners of the room, dust on the bad (head part). They don't speak English, only via Google Translate. A 'kind' guy from staff woke us up 7 minutes before end of breakfast (included nasi/mie goreng with egg) time by knocking on our door... although we arrived midnight, so we would prefer to sleep after 1,5 day flight trips. I understand his point, but still: why? Our stay was a disappointment with lots of Cons and only the location was a Pro only."

"The hotel is located on a hill with amazing views, and the rooms are quite spacious. However, for a tourist, transportation isn't very convenient. Getting to the hotel from town or the pier by taxi or tuk-tuk costs between 5,000 and 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah. But if you want to go down from the hotel, only the hotel's car is available, and it costs 100,000 Rupiah. I tried walking down, but gave up after a short while; the road is narrow, and there are too many motorbikes, making it feel unsafe. As for service, staff were responsive to questions. However, the check-in process was indeed very slow. Perhaps it's a popular hotel locally, as the front desk was always busy and seemed understaffed. I arrived at 11 AM, went to the restaurant for lunch, and by 2 PM when I returned to the counter, my room still wasn't ready. In the end, I had to leave my bags and go out to explore. I stayed for two nights and overall, it was a good experience, better than some online reviews suggested."
