"This is a simple but delightful place with of course the most amazing view of the mighty Mekong River. Most people are just passing through either up river to Thai border or down river to Luang Prabang, so the town does have a bit of a feel of a transport ‘node’. We stayed 2 nights so could relax and enjoy the pool and views and a visit to the wonderful elephant sanctuary (separate review). Rooms are simple, clean with epic views. It’s all a bit noisy with most people departing for their 6.30am boat, but that is the nature of the place. Food was simple and delicious (all meals) and all the staff trying so hard to make your stay special. So we gave it 5* reflecting what it is and where it is."

"Amazing stay at this guest house. Used as stopover for laos slow boat. They arranged for a car to pick us up from where we were dropped off which we were not expecting but was nice after a long day. Room was really nice and had a lovely breakfast in the morning."

"The slow boat from Luang Prabang stops off at Pak Beng befor continuing the next day. This hostel is close to the Mekong river. The dorm was clean and quiet. You have to walk through the reception to access the toilets and shower. It is next to the main road and they close the shutter at night for security. In the morning the roosters wake you up to make sure you do not miss the boat which leaves at 08:30 for Thailand."

"Just the coolest, most chilled place. Overlooking the Mekong and providing their own fresh vegetables from the gardens terracing the hillside. If you are a concrete and glass .modern hotel type, its not you. If you love character, it has got it in spades. Has a pool , internet, great views of the Mekong and the elephant sanctuary teary opposite. Not much in Pak Beng, take some cash as ATM s are sketchy but a cool little town."

"This was be far the best hotel we stayed in Laos. The room was dreamy and like being in a film. Romantic, incredible views of the Mekong and a mind blowing sunset. It’s not luxurious but rather shabby chic. The only slight disappointment was the quality of the food but the rest of the hotel experience more than made up for this."
