Sunrise Paros

"Hotel: The Sunrise apartments we stayed in were simple and clean (maid service every day) but ours was let down by the bathroom having a chipped shower tray and loose drain cover. Worst was the shower with no holder to place the shower head in (applies to all appts) and one of those awful plastic curtains that just cling to your body. We simply didn't use it and just mopped up the wet floor afterwards. Despite this we actually thought the rooms were pretty good - we had a view over the pool and a nice sunny balcony (helpful to dry clothes and towels etc). There's a safe, fridge, hairdryer, plenty of storage and lovely airconditioning. The beds were very firm also only one pillow but don't be afraid to ask for more if needed! The hotel appears to be used to travellers not staying more than a few days - probably because its one of only a very few in the area with a pool. We did have an issue with some loud Greek Teenagers who had no respect for anyone - dive bombing and summersaulting into the pool splashing everyone nearby and also coming back at 5am shouting and screaming. Very disrespectful. Luckily they were gone in a few days. In terms of location we found it very handy for everything - bus, shops, bars, beaches, restaurants etc. There is a small incline on the last bit but not a problem we thought (and we had an 83 yr old with us). The grounds are lovely with flowers and seating everywhere offering shade and 'quiet' areas. The pool, although small, is a very welcome addition - especially as temperatures were hitting 35ºC. Reasonable amount of sunbeds around the pool but the beanbags looked like they had seen better days and we avoided them! The star of the show is Harry in reception. He can sort out anything for you, from telling noisy Greek kids to 'shut up', getting extra pillows, sorting out a hire car, arranging boat trips, fixing most things and he'll give you a very comprehensive guide to the attractions on the island, marking on the map where to go and what to see. We found this so useful for getting around and called it 'Harry's tour'. The guy deserves a medal. Naoussa (and Paros itself) was much bigger, busier and better than we'd ever imagined despite watching numerous travel videos beforehand. It's predominantly Rich Americans, Canadians, Australians and Greeks (we were told the people of Cyprus love Paros). There are distinct areas of Naoussa; 'Instagram' town - the areas you will always see in the brochures with restaurants and bars right on the waterfront. A feast for the eyes but very busy, noisy and expensive. You will nearly always need to book anything here. Still, you have to do it at least once while you are there! Harbour Front - mostly restaurants disappointingly doing mainly pizzas at over-inflated prices. Harbour area to the left of the bridge - much quieter, better menus, choice of food, service and much, much cheaper. Shopping area - an absolute labyrinth of picturesque narrow winding streets where you can find bars"

"The hotel is good, we liked everything, it is connected to another hotel and you can use all the pools, but the only downside is that they don't refill the water bottles on room. It's also a bit far from the restaurants, about a 10-minute walk, but we knew about it beforehand, so it wasn't a problem for us."

"We absolutely loved everything about this place. The staff welcome and treat you like family—no ask is too much. The units are exceptionally clean — I mean impeccable—and our two-bedroom suite with jacuzzi, had a wonderful view of the harbor. All restaurants and town was a quick walk, as was the trip to the beach. The pool setup is small, but perfectly adequate, and the breakfast is amazing. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and hope we can come back some day! Thank you for a wonderful stay!"

Når du er parkeret, nyder du Naousa til fods (5 minutters gang fra havnen!), køkkenet er på hjørnet af gaden og de utallige cafeer i byens centrum 3 minutters gang... Værelserne/Lejlighederne er store og perfekt udstyret til familier, den Elegant dekoration, haven er fantastisk og meget komfortabelt læder! Les propriétaires, leurs enfants tout leur personnel sont d’une grande gentileté... ici vous vivez au rythme du sole et des sourires, dans une oasis de tranquilité... Un oasis de tranquilité! Un merveilleux! Nous recommandons à 100% l’hôtel."

"We gave this feedback directly to the hotel before leaving, hoping it would be taken on board - but there was no apology or attempt to rectify on the hotels part. The hotel is aesthetically lovely and well-presented, and staff were helpful in some ways - for example, carrying our luggage to and from the room and arranging taxis when asked. However, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations for €270 a night. The main issue was how staff responded when a friend staying nearby came to our room briefly before dinner. Staff pulled one of my friends aside to question why there was a third person, then called her back to inform her that if she were to come back to our room, we would need to pay an additional charge. She had only popped in for about an hour before heading out for dinner. We were told this was “hotel policy” and even that it was “against regulations,” which felt like an extreme and uncomfortable reaction to something quite normal. The next day, we were told she shouldn’t have been let in at all. Whether or not this is a rule (which isn’t made clear when booking), the way it was handled was abrupt and rude. From that point on, we felt watched and quite policed - which really affected the atmosphere of the whole stay. It made us feel uncomfortable in a space that should have felt relaxing. I gave this feedback at the time, but unfortunately, no one made any effort to apologise or make things right, and they maintained this was “hotel policy.” However, regardless of policy, their approach and the fact this rule isn’t clearly stated at the point of booking makes how they handled it wrong and unfair. Other issues included: – Quite a lot of ants in the room, including in the bed – No blackout curtains, only shutters, which we weren’t shown how to use until we asked – A broken shower head that only sprayed at the wall – On a couple of occasions, the receptionist was behind the door smoking or on her phone instead of at the desk We had just come from a hotel in Santorini where the staff genuinely went above and beyond, so the contrast here was very noticeable. Although some staff were polite and helpful in a practical sense, the overall experience didn’t feel warm or guest focused. This could have been a completely different stay with a more understanding approach and willingness to take feedback seriously. Sadly, that wasn’t the case, and we left feeling disappointed and unwelcome - not what you expect for the price. Unfortunately I would not return and would not recommend this hotel to others."
