"Visiting friends in the village and so pleased they booked us into The Quarrymans Rest. Friendly and easy book in and pleasantly surprised at the spacious and clean room. Everything catered for with tea, coffee, kettle and milk supplied and a lovely view. Had a pint on arrival and sat outside with very welcoming locals. Returned after a night out and sat inside. As previous reviews have stated, this is a proper pub with very friendly, hardworking landlord. There is even the pub cat Denzil. In the morning we had a lovely fried breakfast and left wishing we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back."

"We booked all 3 rooms for several days for a family wedding in the town. It couldn't have been a better place to stay. Very comfortable beds in beautifully appointed rooms, and the owner, Caroline, being an exceptional host. The food was also delicious, with the lemon curd biscuits going down especially well with my wife. Bridge House was the epitome of rest and calm before & after busy days of wedding preparation and celebration. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

Fox & Hounds Country Hotel ★★★

"We have just come away from the Fox and Hounds after a 3 night stay. We paid a little extra for the suite but it was so worth it! Beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and spacious - the perfect home from home. We were surprised at the attention to detail, a full kitchen with every utensil needed and even leaving some little doggy biscuits to welcome the furry guest. The grounds are well maintained and staff more than friendly towards dogs. We paid with dining included, at £35 pp per night for dinner upfront. Unfortunately, we did not feel this is value for money. With soggy burgers, cold breakfast and at times inattentive staff, the “service” was lacking. More worryingly, seafood came out consistently barely warm or cold, making it inedible. One manager left us with no drinks for over an hour, meaning we had to share a single glass of water. Food is not value for money and not as premium as advertised. When checking out we expressed this disappointment to the hotel, providing an opportunity to rectify further - instead we had to pay £10 for additional drinks. Rather disappointingly, we were promised that the first meal would wiped, only now we have left the hotel we find these so call “promises” are empty and only being refunded 20% of what we were promised (still far below what we would want to pay). Further still, I was told no one was available, but my partner was put straight through to a manager showing clear avoidance of the issue. Whilst the room was nice, the food and post-stay service has been abysmal and unfortunately completely overshadowed what few benefits the hotel has. We would like to thank the head of Housekeeping and interior designers who gave us something to praise about our stay."

Bampton Townhouse ★★

"Great marketing and a very comfortable bed but very far from luxurious! We were in the biggest room with nowhere to put our clothes. I’ m 5ft 6” and could barely reach the cost pegs which were too large for my coats; there was nowhere else to hang up clothes and the couple of tiny drawers were big enough for underwear only. Cases had to be opened on the floor. Coffee/tea but no milk were available in the kitchen downstairs (I got dressed again and went to the Spar opposite for milk). A tiny plastic box in the bathroom held the very mean selection of shampoo etc. ( only enough shampoo for one and a couple of sample type sachets of bath oil). Are 2018 magazines sufficiently old to be considered retro? That’s the reading material in the room. Perhaps the owner has not noticed the damp in the wall beside the large mirror. This is an AirB&B at best, certainly not a hotel."

"Vi besøgte søndagsmiddag, vi havde booket.Personalet var venligt og velkommen, sådan en smuk pub. Vi gik begge til grisens roast og var ikke skuffet ....standard måltidsstørrelse var stor, men alt mad var perfekt kogt og flere grøntsager til at tilføje til din plade med en meget stor gravy båd. Kun en af os havde pudding, som var den sticky toffee pudding ...en anden stor portion og lækker Sikkert vil komme tilbage igen, sådan en smykke af en pub"

"The wife and I poped in here for lunch.We've been past the pub many times on our travels, but never stopped before.The pub is easily found at a bridge over the river Exe, on the B3222, between Bampton and Brushford, and bang on the river. En smuk beliggenhed.Mange parkeringer på bag- og foran pubben. pubben er åben og i god dekorativ orden, med masser af siddepladser indendørs og ude.Børnehaven er en generøs størrelse, velbevaret og omfatter en flodfront. Tjenesten var varm og velkommen, og vores drikkevarer blev serveret hurtigt.Vi bestilte en fuld ribben til mig og en chili burger til min kone.Begge var gode portioner og gode værdier for penge. Mine korte svin ribben var pænt kogt, men BBQ-saft blev tilføjet, da den blev lagt.De var meget gode.Min kones burger var en god størrelse og pænt kød."

"We went as we were bought a gift voucher. Only day to visit is Thursdays,. We had to be there by 12.on arrival we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee with our cream tea. We were shown to a room with settees and armchairs (not good to serve up our cream tea) it all came out on one tray!! Looked very much thrown on. We ate that, the scones were okay but not quiet cooked as claggy in the centre. We then were told the tour of the gardens and castle would be at 2.30!!! Two and a half hours after arrival. We decided to go round on our own rather than wait as no more refreshments available. It took 5 to 10 mins to look round a very un kept garden.all overgrown weeds galore coving paths. The chapel was a mess.. What would have been a nice rose glgrowing up the entrance was covered in dead heads.. The band stand where we were told it would be nice to take photos was overgrown.. We checked out a couple of the historical rooms weren't lit up at all or presented nice. Then onto to the main garden which was also a mess. Tennis courts with weeds growing through the court.. Think twice before you go. Photos on line are nothing like it!!!"

"We went to this Inn for a family of 22 birthday Sunday lunch, and they really looked after us. The food came out after about 15 minutes of us being there, but we were nice and settled at our table. The desert did however, not follow for another 60 minutes, but the place was very busy. The food and service were excellent, as was the warm welcome. Will deffo be back."
