NO DINNER IS SERVED, BUT IT PROVED PERFECTLY OK TO HAVE OUR OWN LIGHT MEAL ON THE TERRACE. AND NEXT MORNING A GREAT BREAKFAST WAS SERVED OUTSIDE IN THE SUN! HOUSE AND ROOM WERE VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE."

"What a shame as this hotel could be good if it made a few changes. As you arrive there is an overwhelming smell of bleach and then you enter a area that is like a railway waiting room to find reception area that is rarely manned. Once you get to your room you find the hot water is lukewarm at best (room 1) and my friend in room 16 said his shower did not have any water pressure at all and was unusable. The carpets and chairs are worn and the whole place is really in need of a massive refurbishment. Just no fun to stay there. On the positive side the staff are very good despite working in conditions that work against them and the food is good."

"At £40 for Dinner it was a disgrace. Vegetables totally overcooked and inedible. Chocolate sauce on brownies was burnt Never again Pillows very worn Bathroom window painted up so could not open. Only one window in the bedroom was open and the sash cord was broken"

"What a brilliant place to escape to this beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Only 1.5 miles from Melrose town centre which is a lovely friendly town with nice places to eat and drink . Must mention the award winning butcher & fishmonger and artisan bread shop too. Stables cottage is so warm and cosy just the place to relax in peace and tranquility and luxury."
