"Where to start a review about this fabulous hotel in a fairytale location! Guess I should start with the welcome, we drove to Matera and were sent very clear instructions by the hotel about where to park and how we would be collected from the carpark. All was very efficiaent! Matera was a bit of a surprise and it really does give you a "BOO" moment as up until the moment you turn the corner into the old city it gave away no glimses. We were right up until that moment underwhelmed as we could have neen in any majot town in Italy but then..... Then the fairytail begins, it is simply a breathtaking place and could be (indeed has been) the backdrop to a movie. Then we arrived at the hotel. This is the second SLH hotel I have stayed at since they became part of the Hilton group and although the other hotel (Dunas de Formentera) was comparible in beauty it was not comparible in service - it got a 1* from me only as you cant give 0*. The Sant'angelo, Matera however would get 6* if i could give them!! From the moment we got there nothing was too much trouble. We got an upgrade as it was our anniversary and my birthday and also a bottle of wine and a cake!! They advised us where to go for drinks and ice cream and arranged a TukTuk ride to explore the city. Everything was just perfect. Thank you for looking after us so well and we wioll be back!"

"The actual hotel/room didn't quite live up to the photos or descriptions; it definitely wasn't the cave-style depicted but rather quite modern. Located on a hill, the hotel is impossible to find using GPS. We had to call the front desk, and it took a long time for them to understand and send someone to collect us. Be prepared for many stairs. If you plan to stay here, I'd strongly advise against bringing much luggage. The air conditioning unit in the room was incredibly loud; at night, it sounded eerily like ongoing construction work. The view from the window was also quite plain, which might have been due to the room's orientation."

"What an incredible hotel! I absolutely loved everything! Living in a "cave" with torches on the walls, immersing yourself in the fantastical atmosphere of Ancient Greece – it was a delight! Guests are given special attire, which everyone wears to breakfast and the shows. The spa area is absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend it! I definitely want to visit it once in a lifetime! "This stay was absolutely fantastic, deserving a full five-star review! First of all, the hotel's facilities were a pleasant surprise. The rooms were incredibly spacious, the largest standard rooms we've seen during our European trip, unlike some cramped rooms in European hotels. All the facilities were new and spotlessly clean, making for a very comfortable and reassuring stay. We booked three rooms, one of which required twin beds. The receptionist noticed this and immediately and proactively arranged a change for us – incredibly efficient and attentive service. The breakfast selection was excellent, and the coffee deserves special mention – it was delicious! The entire hotel staff deserves praise, especially the front desk manager, Valerio. He not only handled all our needs perfectly but also enthusiastically recommended tourist routes and local art exhibitions, and even arranged a private car from Matera to Naples – his service was beyond expectations! This stay was made exceptionally memorable by the hotel's facilities and the professionalism of staff like Valerio. If I were to return, this would definitely be my only choice!"

"We have just had the most amazing stay at this property. Nataliia and her family are so welcoming, helpful and extremely professional. The apartments are furnished to a very high standard, and kept immaculately, everything was so clean. great value and only 14 minutes into the centre of Matera so a fantastic location, a car is essentia ldue to semi rural private road to reach the property. The outdoor pool was such a nice option to enjoy after a day exploringt he Sassi and very relaxing, again furnished to a very high standard. Could not have asked for a nicer place to choose to stay for our first visit to Matera. Thank you Nataliia for your kind hospitality and superb knowledge that added to a brilliant stay for us"

Suiteen er rummelig og mangler ingen udstyr, meget værdifuld rent og komplet spa (pool "jacuzzi", sauna og hammam. Check in uden lobby, 100% digital er ok. Bemol: 1. le service de chambre n’est pas passé (comme convenu) le deuxième jour du séjour 2. Den annoncerede morgenmad er faktisk begrænset til en pris på 5€, hvilket vi anser for at være antinomisk med "buffet" indeholdt i de ydelser. Så jeg er delvist tilfreds med overnatningsprisen."

"Just a wonderful place! Very clean, I was afraid to meet there spiders, as on the streets they are, but there was no living except me and it was perfect!!! Very clean, excellent work air conditioner, they even two, but enough and one. The location is beautiful, in five minutes walking a crowd of people, but here super quiet and at all no one in the evening on the weekend! Breakfast was delicious, the owner cooked a delicious coffee, was a very delicious Italian kitchen. I went to the meeting very much and I was able to settle much later on the hour of the arrival, the owner was in contact, I warned him about the delay. WiFi works great. Just, I'll definitely come here again) The owner sent a detailed instruction on settlement and problems at all there was no!!! (Everyone would learn from this owner)"
