If you are looking for the luxury of a 5-star hotel, look elsewhere. The priority here is the atmosphere, maximum cleanliness, the effort to fulfill every wish of the guest. Calypso Hotel ★★

"I think it's the worst hotel I've been in... The food, let's not talk about it, it's totally indecent (the lunch is nothing continental, low standard. The evening meal, 1 normal dish and 1 vegetarian dish. As starters, salad, tomatoes, onions, olives, ... dessert, 1 fruit...) And what's more, it's not even good, the leftovers reused as much as possible, boiled eggs that have been hard for several days... At least we discovered some great little restaurants in town! The wifi does not work in the rooms even though it says "Wifi in the rooms"! When we complain about it, they say it works on the terrace, which is not true, we have the signal but impossible to connect. And when by some miracle it connects, nothing happens! It seems that it's because of the mountains, that it's like that everywhere in Greece, I have to deal with it... while the wifi works very well in the restaurant and everywhere else in Matala in the restaurants! At the Calypso hotel, we even receive wifi from surrounding hotels, but unfortunately no password :( TV. We're not here for that but still, at the limit, I would prefer that it not There aren't any! 3 channels: 2 German and one French-speaking. All almost as scrambled as Canal + without a decoder. The French-speaking channel remained frozen 4 days a week and what's more, they chose LN24 but the African version! Nothing against it, but this information interests me less... I had asked for a room on the ground floor, we were put on the highest floor... A broken fridge remained at the bottom of the stairs during the entire stay... Icy reception, I was even yelled at because I wasn't parked in the right place. And at the reception, you have to manage: we go up there with our luggage, we are given a sheet with some practical instructions and then it's you manage. And no one to help with the luggage... they are there, sitting, but no one moves... nice The girls who take care of the cleaning and clearing the tables in the restaurant are nice, but we have to clear our table ourselves! Is this a hotel or are we at home? A word of advice, there are other hotels, avoid this one, even if it is not expensive! Written promises but nothing in practice. Positive: the swimming pool but we have the sea very close..."

"Dimitrs resort var en stor opdagelse.Venlig hjælpsom personale, stor swimmingpool og is....Værelserne har et skjult udendørs område (som er godt, når ekstremt varmt).Værelset var rent og a/c var koldt.Gode familieværelser med 2-senge plus bunke senge. Aftenen er rolig og fredelig.Skynd dig, der er ingen kedel i rummet, men spørg, og det er ikke noget problem at få 1.Også smart tv i rummet, der er en stor plus. Dimitri er en god fyr og vil forsøge at hjælpe dig så meget som han kan.Tak for brillerne."

Hotel Eva Marina ★★

"The 2* hotel is a few minutes from the beach and is perfect! I was there for 10 days at the end of May until 8th of June. My room was spotless, was cleaned every day by a very friendly young man and I got new sheets and towels every second day! The owners are so friendly and made me feel very welcome, their breakfast buffet and coffee was great. There were also some really tasty Greek delicacies in pastry and some Crêpes in Nutella! 😋 All in all I had a great stay and can highly recommend the Eva Marina!"

"Matala er en vidunderlig lille by, væk fra masserne af de bedst kendte resorts i Kreta.Matala Bay Hotel er velkommen, med venlig personale.Hotellet er meget ren og værelserne er effektive.Det er et 3-stjernede hotel, men er for nylig blevet moderniseret. Vi havde et problem med et brudt brusehoved, som de lige flyttede til en mere moderne.Frugt var lækkert, så meget valg.Æggevalget er kogt eller kogt og nogle gange skræmt. Mange valg af brød, korn, koldt kød, ost og pasta. Hotellet har en fantastisk samling katte og katte, som får masser af behandlinger fra kunderne og er en stor kilde til sjov for børn (og store børn, 😀) Poolområdet og haverne er godt vedligeholdt og meget afslappende. Der er en elevator, spørg de øverste gulvværelser.Hvis du er heldig nok til at få et havudsigt værelse, vil du blive ødelagt med fantastiske solskin.Strand er en kort gåtur væk.Hele området er venligt, sikkert og meget ren. Der er ikke affald overalt, som nogle resorts.Vi ville helt sikkert vende tilbage og anbefale dette hotel."
