The Axel Maspalomas leaves a lot to be desired and the apartments, bathrooms and interior of the building are very old and not renovated, it only has a slight facelift. At this point, very bad and total disappointment for us."

"Just back (August 2024) Flying from Bournemouth using Thomas cook and Ryan air. Family of 5 Ages 11 to 54. Loved this holiday. Note the transfer Coach can only drop you at the top of quite a few steps about 400 yard away so not suitable for the less mobile. Apartments do need updating but are very clean as is the whole site including the Poole. Reception very helpful and the rooms have no aircon but do come with 2 large fans that kept us comfortable when temps were averaging 30. Small but well stocked supermarket just across the road with prices that were reasonable. The beach is a short walk away with lots going on. Tip prices on drinks and food inc gifts are higher the closer you are to the beach itself. Another tip if you just want to walk around without being constantly asked by restaurants to there their food take some lollipops to suck as some places give these out after a meal and we noticed we were left alone as many thought we had already eaten. Finally Cocktails vary in prices in a big way, if you pull slightly away from the noise you can save approximately 4 euros a cocktail or a couple of euros a pint. Loved the vibe and how safe and friendly the whole area is. We will be going back. Hope this helps."

"We arrived just as the hotel was subject to a power cut. The young guy receptionist took us to the room as our door keys would not work due to the electricity outage. The electricity came back on in reception about 5 minutes later but someone had to go room to room to reset each rooms supply. Some 2 hours later after having sat in the dark unable to unpack and several tracks to reception and being told we were priority we gave up and went out to dinner in the clothes we travelled in after a 4 hour 30 minutes flight. Other hotels were affected in the same street apparently. Once this issue was sorted by the time we got back from dinner everything was great. Lovely breakfast, lovely room with Molton Brown shower gel, shampoo and hand soap and lotion. Lovely pool and no issue getting sun beds. Short walk to the beach and dunes but a lot of steps up and down. Also 10 minute walk to Yumbo shopping centre which had everything you needed from great shops to excellent restaurants and bars. Great place for LGBTQ to meet up and great place to people watch. Definitely recommend"

I’ll break everything down point by point: — There are cockroaches in the rooms! — Expired products are being served, such as ketchup and mayonnaise (I am attaching photos). — Very noisy. Absolutely no sleep. Because of the discos (at night) and because of breakfast (in the morning) — staff shout loudly and make a lot of noise moving things around early in the morning. And during the day they do reconstruction — repairing empty rooms on the third floor. Why they do renovations in the summer season is unclear. — Food is à la carte. Breakfast does not always match the menu. It says “fresh papaya or mango,” but in fact everything comes from cans (canned fruit). This type of breakfast is not for everyone. Often you are afraid to take too much, then feel embarrassed to leave it, so you force yourself to eat it. But you won’t stay hungry. The coffee is bad. — Dinner is a disaster. The cook is apparently not a professional. Everything is tasteless, poor in variety, and not always fresh. Monotonous — just a basic salad at the buffet, which is often empty. The wine is of average quality. Spoiled juices are served, expired ketchup, and so on. I’ll attach a photo of one example. Also, if in the morning you ordered fish for dinner, but in the evening you suddenly want meat, you cannot change it unless you pay extra. With half board plus you only get one drink included. — Most of the staff are good. Especially noteworthy: a strong girl with a braid at breakfast — hardworking and polite. A tall blonde from the Netherlands — creative and attentive, works both breakfast and dinner shifts. Salvatore from Italy — works occasionally, but also at breakfasts and dinners. Sidi is also very good, he tries hard. At the reception all the men are very attentive, especially Detlev. — Bed linen and towels are worn out. Cleaning was good only on the first day when we checked in, later it was mediocre. A couple of times they forgot to clean at all. But there were always enough supplies, and the room itself is nice and comfortable. — Not enough loungers at the pool, because people reserve them in advance. — There is no entertainment in the hotel except bingo. — The price for the hotel is reasonable. I do not recommend it for families with children or for elderly people — you can go crazy from the constant noise, both at night and during the day. It is suitable for young people looking for a short burst of fun. And for those who care more about being at the seaside than all the disadvantages listed above — since the sea is only 10 minutes away from the hotel."

The first A la Carte booked was good, the second one was canceled the evening before (restaurant closed?). "Lovely hotel nice and clean all the staff were very friendly. Air-conditioning in the bungalow was very welcome. Our trip was all inclusive and the self service restaurant was kept well stocked with a good variety of dishes. The nearest beach was almost 2 kilometres away but there was a free bus service if you didn't want to walk. This is an ideal place for all ages if you prefer a mix. There are several pools to cater for younger children and a main pool for leasure rather than for serious swimming. The entertainment was more aimed towards younger children and certainly not for those that expect a Broadway show."
