"We stayed at the lofts for 3 nights using it as a base for our garden route trip in South Africa. The hotel is located in a beautiful setting on thessen island overlooking the lagoon. There are a nos of good restaurants on thessen island but also the Knysna waterfront is only a short walk away. Plettenberg bay is less than 1 hour away and storms river 1.5 hours away. We stayed in lagoon view rooms which were very spacious, luxuriously furnished and with stunning views of the lagoon. What we really loved about the hotel was the service. All the staff were so friendly and warm. There was a mix up with our booking on arrival but they dealt with it so professionally and more than made up for it. The restaurant the Nest has really good food and the ile de pain which adjoins the hotel has lovely breakfasts. One of the really nice touches is the notice board with names / pictures of the staff where you can leave post it notes with messages for them. One example of lots of small details which make this hotel so special. Overall highly recommend this hotel for a luxurious stay in the garden route"

De gjorde vores ophold en absolut glæde, altid ubevæbnet klædt, et glad smil på deres ansigter og klar til at hjælpe os på alle måder. Værelserne er meget smagfuldt dekoreret og spotless, smukke blomsterarrangementer på bordet, om aftenen en lille behandling på puderne.Fruegen var altid en behandling og alle ønsker blev opfyldt. Den smukke udsigt over Knysna Heads rundede ud af pakken.Vi anbefaler dette hotel når som helst!!"

"We stayed for 1 night on our honeymoon. Our spa treatment was cut short as it was approaching 5pm and the spa therapists needed to leave. We had no hot water. Maintenance eventually came to our room to fix it while we were having breakfast. They left our room door open and beer bottle caps on our counter. We returned and still had no hot water. It's a decent place but the way issues are handled makes it a 1 star hotel."

Beautiful and classy decoration, extreme comfort of the bed, friendly welcome and attention from Mark, our host, as well as from the whole team, always willing to find a solution to problems (my wife strained her ankle and they found us the best doctors and clinic to take care of her). So comfortable that you wish you could have it as your home. Knysna in austral winter is very quiet, you have the whole place almost for yourself, and staying at Kanonkop GH is enforcing the quietness, relaxing ambiance, and serenity. Our second time in Knysna (1st in 1999), but if there is a 3rd, it will be there."

"The Moorings was an absolutely terrible hotel. We had to walk to the reception to fill our water bottles. There were an overwhelming number of mosquitoes, and there were 5 spider webs right on top of the beds. We repeatedly requested housekeeping to clean up the spider webs, but they would never listen. Worst hotel ever."

"We spent 3 days in the lodge and as we were mostly out for seeing the area around, we hardly were in the lodge itself. The room was fine - only thing is the shower, which should be upgraded a bit. The view from the room itself is wonderful, you can see different kind of birds around and the silence, especially in the early mornings. The lodge itself has a place where you can make your own meals - actually, we did not take usage of this, so no feedback here. But for sure an interesting option for families. We were just a bit confused as we thought (from the pictures) that there are different smaller lodges available, and not just one building with different rooms and a bigger living room to share. Anyway, the stay was fine for us and we had a nice talk to Esther, who takes care of guests. Thanks for that!"
