"Greeted with a lukewarm warm reception upon arrival. No assistance offered to take the luggage to the room which was up three flights of stairs that got narrower towards the top. The breakfast server huffed and was visibly annoyed and upset when I dared to ask for a second coffee! I suggest that they invest in a coffee machine instead of serving single cup sized cafetières. The family room was a good size but had fairly low ceiling beams which were pointed out by 15 signs which made the room look more like a building site than a bedroom. No refrigerator in the room and the safe did not work. The location is around 6 miles from Keswick. Nice swimming pool but access via the door to the changing rooms does not work all of the time."

"This is a historic building that dates back to 1548 and has gone through 11 owners. Today it is a spa hotel The hotel sits on a large piece of land, with herds of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a great view of the lake and a large meadow. Rabbits and squirrels often jump around in the meadow and forest. You can reach the lake through a path, or you can hike in the forest. From the elevator, you can feel that the hotel has a sense of age. The spa has a constant-temperature swimming pool, a cold pool, a hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool, facing a large area of grass and woods, which is really pleasant. The only thing to note is: if you check out at 11 o'clock, you must go to the spa before checking out. After 11 o'clock, there will be an additional charge of 20 pounds per person."

The 'Superior' rooms are quite spacious, but the 'Comfort' rooms are very cramped. The breakfast is definitely a highlight; the quality and taste are absolutely superb!"

"This was my first time staying at a yha and I booked a dorm room for me and my son the first night the room was red hot and both the other people in the room were snorers so I had a terrible nights sleep! However in the morning I explained my predicament and I was upgraded to a private room for no extra charge and this was much better! The bar area was nice the facilities are great and the location is brilliant. However the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired i would definitely stop here again but would not have the breakfast. Much tastier alternatives are available nearby."

"Hotel Highlights: 1. Excellent breakfast: Traditional English breakfast with blood sausage, stir-fried mushrooms, and fried bacon. The service was excellent and very friendly. Just find your table according to your room number. 2. Located in the town center, very close to restaurants and the shopping street. The lake is about a 15-minute walk away. 3. There are six free parking spaces, but aside from the one on the street, finding a spot is a challenge due to limited availability. 4. Check-in is hassle-free; just give your name and get your key. Disadvantages: It gets very cold at night in winter; the old-fashioned windows let in drafts, and the heating is weak. Getting wet in the rain feels like being a middle-aged man… Also, the cleanliness of the bedding is questionable…"

Nothing was too much and Lorna welcomed us after a disastrous attempt at camping with the horrific weather. So glad that we found Brookfield and turned our stay in the lakes around. Will definitely be back to stay"

"Stayed here for a couple of nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ann and Dennis are perfect hosts, calling everyone by their first names which is nice. I had booked single occupancy but still had a double bed. Breakfast was spot on and delivered right on time at 8.30 If you’re reading this after October then Ann and Dennis will no longer be there as they’re retiring. The only real niggle is that it’s on street parking but I managed to find a spot a minute away. Would definitely give it full marks and great value."
