"Our group of 14 were booked across 8 rooms at this resort for the last 3 nights of our stay in Uganda. We had paid for 3 nights through our tour company but left after 2 nights and booked a hotel in Kampala instead due to a multitude of problems most of which were ignored or poorly managed by the hotel. Amongst other problems we had : Missing room reservations and very slow check in process Wet/damp beds on check in Shower overflowing into bedrooms. Reported but not fixed. TV’s grainy and safes not working. Keycards stopping working Many rooms no towels. Requests for extra towels ignored The biggest problem of all is once problems were reported nothing was actioned unless it was chased up multiple times and in many cases nothing was done. This was all explained to Vishal, the Manager we spoke to when we were leaving the hotel. Although he apologised, there was no offer to make things right and no explanation as to why the service received was so poor. This is a very poorly managed hotel. Ignore the claimed 5 star rating and find somewhere else in area when visiting Jinja. "

"I had a fantastic stay! The customer care was exceptional, but what truly stood out was the work culture. The employees seemed genuinely happy and comfortable, creating such a positive atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond, and the healthy work environment was evident. It was inspiring to see staff even writing songs about the place out of love! I met the humble, hospitable, and punctual owner. The night pool swims were wonderful, the beds were comfy, and the community-made soap was a nice touch. The boat ride on the River Nile was exhilarating, taking me to the source and onto Lake Victoria. I saw many bird species, snakes, and the fishing activities on the lake. There are also many other activities like kayaking, ziplining, tubing, and rafting. I highly recommend for couples, family and solo trips in Jinja. Its very few minutes from the River Nile."

"We stayed at Jinja Backpackers for the weekend as three families, and it honestly felt like home. The kids had so much space to play, with free bicycles and scooters, cozy corners for reading, and even gazebos where they played cards. The friendly dogs made it feel even warmer! Rooms were clean, affordable, and each had its own charm. One family had the quadruple room ($90) that felt like a small home. Another stayed in a private cabin surrounded by greenery ($70). My family took the 8-bed dorm with a private bathroom wing perfect for our big group. You can also get a single dorm bed for just $15. They let us use the percolator for hot water anytime, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was incredible I’m not a fish person, but the fish curry was unforgettable. Huge thanks to Ivan and the amazing staff for being so helpful, kind, and flexible. We loved every minute and can’t wait to come back!"

"This place is a home away from home for my family and I. Been visiting since 2004 to date! The hotel Is clean, friendly staff, pocket friendly and the breakfast is the icing on the cake! especially the sausages!! The view of the nile is refreshing..but as a fanatic of yours, was there this Christmas, the general furniture needs to be upgraded from the eating area to the rooms..other than that Dr&family will always have Paradise at heart!! "I made a reservation and got a confirmation number, but when I wrote to them to note that I would be coming in late, they said that they had cancelled the reservation because others had come in, and if I wanted to ask questions I should deal with the website that I booked the reservation on. This was after receiving a confirmation number for the reservation. If I hadn't emailed them out of courtesy, I would never have known my reservation was cancelled. I found another hotel and will never stay there, because I can't know if my reservation will be honored."

"I stayed at 2Friends for 3 nights and it was great. I was made to feel sooo welcome by all. The public bar and restaurant has a great mix of guests, locals and expats. My room was by the pool ($115 per night) and was very clean and comfortable. The rooms next to the guest bar/restaurant are cheaper and the pool is 20 metres away. The public bar/restaurant has a fantastic pizzeria, the calzones were delicious. The bar stays open until the last man standing leaves but you don't here any noise in the rooms so it's perfect for any kind of guest. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and they provided me with a wealth of info and a good local map. The source of the Nile is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by boda-boda. I will definitely be back :)"

"The owner of the hotel was very nice. But other than the behaviour of the owner nothing was right. The location of the hotel is not good at all. It is just beside the highway. So due to the sound of vehicles people can not sleep at night. I don’t recommend this hotel to stay."

"Love this place! I have been twice. in 2022, and 2025. We love the staff, Sylvester is the most humble host, and everyone cares so much about your happiness. The owner, Mr. Tilly is a very kind man.THE KITCHEN IS IMMACULATE!! I have worked in it, and I am from America...our kitchens are FAR more to worry about as I have worked in them as well. I am from Florida. If you are going here thinking that it will be like American hotels, why are you leaving America? This is Africa, and more specifically Uganda! They have their own culture, and ways of doing things. So, as an American let me tell you this, in all of Uganda, at restaurants that is, they cook everything to order. It is not Fast Food, It is amazing food! and you will wait for it. I suggest ordering dinner at breakfast time and setting up your dinner time. You will be more happy that way if you do not like waiting. This Mazungu has learned how to be patient, thanks to Ugandans! I go back this summer!!"

"Steer clear of this hotel. It has very poor service, disgusting beds and dirty rooms with lots of dust in the windows and under the bed. Incredibly bad food, slow waiters who took forever to serve you. All the staff smiled brightly, but quickly lost their smile when you didn't tip them. All the staff were more or less beggarly. Fortunately, there are better hotels and better places to go in Uganda."
