"Booked and paid in advance to stay for three nights, based on trip reviews we were expecting a great stay. How wrong we were! On arrival we were greeted by a young man who took us and our bags to our room which was up three flights of very darkly lit unsafe stairs - reliant on sensor lighting that’s out of sync. The room was situated at the front of the building and for the price was very small, as was the bathroom. My husband asked if there was an alternative room at the back of the building, commenting on the busy and very noisy road we were on “oh that really quietens down later on “ came the reply- BELIEVE ME IT DOESN’T! neither of us got any sleep and by the next morning we had a list of complaints. The mattress on the bed is so soft it provides no support, the pillows are cheap and rock hard. The bathroom only had cold water in taps and shower, the extractor fan in the bathroom was broken and AC didn’t work properly. Breakfast was simply depressing, every table was dirty, the coffee machine wouldn’t work, so I made us a cup of instant from a kettle. Fresh produce was just left uncovered and covered in flies so no health &safety guidelines in practice. We were offered a cooked breakfast and ordered egg on toast, but it arrived looking like it had been thrown on the plate, so unappetising I couldn’t eat it. My husband again requested an alternative room at the back of the building but was told the room in question was inhabitable, because the former owner had pets in it! My husband also complained about the water being cold and the other issues. And it turned out that the switches next to the bathroom ( clearly marked with Do Not Touch) were for the water heater and had been switched off for our stay. Faced with another terrible night we decided to check out after only one night, so we returned and my husband looked for a member of staff but there was no one about so we left for alternative accommodation and took the keys with us for safety. Despite returning to hand in the keys in and hanging about waiting for a member of staff here we are on our second night in alternative accommodation and still we have been unable to hand the keys in and check out properly! Because there is no one there!! Overall the place is a disorganised shambles run by two young men who have a lot to learn about hospitality, this place offers no comfort whatsoever. Don’t waste your time and money staying here!"

"We had a wonderful stay at Ta’ Gilarda in Gozo. The place is beautifully decorated and has such a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The hosts and owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Their daughter Mila was also lovely, especially with her adorable pet rabbits and tortoises, which added a very charming touch to the experience. The property is very tranquil and quiet, perfect for relaxing. We especially loved spending time chilling in the peaceful veranda. There’s also a lovely indoor jacuzzi where you can unwind and enjoy some quiet time. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and a great start to the day. It was our first time staying here, but definitely not the last. Highly recommended!"
