"• ROOM No cleaning in the room, despite repeated requests to the hotel staff. On the day of arrival, we found a dirty room - including dirt on the bathtub, sticky cups in the bathroom with hair stuck to them, littered walkways, dirty bedding, stained bathrobes. During our stay, the room was not cleaned sufficiently even once - the dirt, including on the bathtub and bathroom cups, persisted throughout our stay. Despite our numerous requests, the staff member only once attempted to remove the rubbish from the walkway - it was shaken onto our clothes hanging on the balcony. The floor in the room was wiped (but not washed) once. The toilet had a broken, falling toilet seat. No separate toilet despite such a description in the offer. No kettle - it was not provided, despite the fact that this problem was reported to the hotel staff many times since our arrival. No mini bar even for a fee - after intervention, a dirty, cracked fridge was delivered to the room, but without equipment, WIFI in the room worked sporadically. Bathrobes were stained and smelled of grease. Insufficient change of towels. We received clean towels only 2 times. During one of many requests to the service staff, the cleaning lady tried to give us damp, used towels from the room of other guests who had left. No clean bedding. On the day of arrival, we found stale, dirty bedding. During our stay, only one pillowcase was changed once, we did not receive clean sheets or a cover. • BEACH The beach at the Zenon Hotel was very littered, there were torn garbage bags, cigarette butts, plastic packaging. Located next to the motorboat docking and rental point, which polluted the water in the sea. No possibility to rent towels on the beach, even with a deposit, because in the period 05-12.08.2024 there was no beach service, no bar, no employee on the beach of the Hotel Zenon. There were only a few dirty sunbeds, an abandoned wooden hut and a lot of garbage. No toilet on the beach. • BARS AND RESTAURANTS No bar or restaurant on the beach of the Hotel Zenon - there was only a blue, abandoned, closed wooden hut. No pool bar - the only open bar at the Hotel Zenon was the lobby bar, but it is not located by the pool. There were supposed to be 3 bars, there was only one - in the lobby with a limited all-inclusive offer. No afternoon snacks, despite the lobby bar menu stating: "Pause au Barbecue: Mini Sandwich et Mini Pizza: 16:00 – 17:00" It was not possible to order afternoon snacks (even for a fee) –– neither in the lobby bar (the only bar open) nor anywhere else, at any time. No Barbecue restaurant – there was only an abandoned place by the pool with a sign on the wall saying "Grillade, Barbecue, Pizza". There may have been a restaurant there at some point, but during our stay nothing was served there, at any time, even for a fee"

"On entry the réception looked good and staff smartly dressed. Room spacious but very dated. The whole place needs upgrading. Dirty places too. This is the 21st Century, yet we had a key to get into the room and not a keycard. The toilet was separate from the bathroom which is a personal distaste. There was a shower over the bath and no rooms had a walk in shower which is difficult as OH has mobility problems. I did ask this before we went. He had a shower down at the indoor pool every day as he could not access the bath. There was a shower curtain over the bath which is not very hygenic. It took three days to have the patio door to the balcony fixed. The clothes line on the balcony was hanging off the wall. These are things that should have been checked when the room was being prepared for an arrival (I have worked in four hotels in the past and feel qualified to make such comments). The food was mediocre with very limited choice. The mashed potato was either very thick like wallpaper paste or slid off the serving spoon as it was too sloppy. Desserts were limited and were often cut into two to go further. Desserts were served with plastic spoons which is not derivitive of a 4 star hotel! Carpets on the corridors were frayed and a tripping hazard, door trims were hanging off, trims across ceilings were not screwed in properly. The hotel was listed as no smoking, yet you could smoke in the designated concert room before and after a show but not during. However the smell of smoke lingered. There were only a few tables in the concert room to put drinks on but these also had ashtrays on. Drinks had to either be held or put into the floor to applaud the entertainment. We went to Djerba for the sun and we admit that we did get this and for that reason we have given one star. This is our view of the hotel but please be warned."
