"We have a bit of a bias towards Grootvlei, we got married there in 2021 and fell in love with the place. So for our 3 year anniversary we returned with our 1 year old to see if it was as we remembered. We booked at Die Duin, or the dune side on the sea, it was just like we remembered and it was such a lovely weekend. That's the thing about the west coast, the calm sea breeze over the cold ocean cools everything down to a nice 22°C while just a few km's away inland, Vanrhynsdorp was a blistering 45°C. We did self catering and all the facilities and amenities required are available, braai's outside and inside, inverter and solar installed and nothing was required. The rooms are spacious with it's own little stoep (verandah) with table and chars. The king size bed was comfy with a firm mattress. Our room had a shower while one of the other room had a shower and bath. We will definitely be back again, it is a very special place and just as special as the first time we were there. PS, I see one keyboard warrior cried crocodile tears about children not being welcome. I suspect her partner wanted an alone breakaway and made that story up - kid are definitely welcome."

"It all started at check-in, where it always starts, right? Turns out that our booking on their system was actually made for one day later than our actual arrival date, despite multiple confirmations that the booking was in order in the weeks leading up to our stay. That was problem number one which already made for a dodgy start. Problem number two relates to parking and the fact that sufficient hotel parking just does not exist so you are doomed to street side parking meaning that you cannot leave anything in your vehicle despite your OCD compulsion forcing you to plan an overnight bag wanting to leave the rest of the luggage in the car… Yes, yes, the linen and towels are clean and so is the room and bathroom but, is this what 3 star these days mean- crappy check-in experience in a clean room you never booked from the start? I’m giving it two star- make up your own mind at your own peril Best experience of the trip was actually enjoying a cold one and the best pizza i’ve ever had at De Kelders restaurant down the road."

"In a stunning geological landscape with insight to mankind’s history through the thousands of year old rock art Bushman’s Kloof is an amazing place. The twice daily safari drives vary between sightings of local animal’s to clambouring over awe inspiring landscape to discover amazing rock art painted in some cases thousands of years ago by our ancestors. Retuning to the lodge and being immersed in luxury surroundings and by staff that couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly if they tried. Special thanks to our guide Liam who made our experience truly memorable."
