"Our Department recently held our yearend function at the Royal Elephant in the Zagora Gazebo. What a disappointment. There were not enough staff to serve us. The food was ghastly. Beef was tough and dry and the chicken coq au vin, looked like offcuts you would not even give your dogs. After raising our concerns with the MD, we were told that "on odd occasions, the do not meet their patron's expectations" and that they will not reimburse us for the meals. I think it was not an unreasonable request, but the MD was of the opposite opinion. We are a big company. 35 members of staff attended the function and the majority complained about the bad service and the poor quality of the food. I will encourage all of them to share their reviews. We will always remember our yearend function of 2024 as the worst experience ever! I was so embaressed. I had to hear all the complaints of members of staff. And when reaching out to the MD, I only received a response that sorry to hear, but we are not willing to remedy or reimburse. How pathetic! Stay away."

Feels like living in a really large house, with friendly staff who make an effort to ensure you have a good stay. When I stay here, I can always ask someone to iron my shirt or make me a very specific omelette for breakfast. Really good value for the price you pay"

"I’m in the Military and from Cape Town, we stayed there for a Shooting Competition in August and it was really a home away from home. The reception upon arrival was friendly and the service was of a very high standard. The buffet breakfast had a good variety every day. Rooms were always clean and any challenges taken care of immediately. The owner and her staff are very flexible and one day even, when requested on short notice, made us a nice snack parcel with fruit, juice and a muffin for the next day. The food parcel for travelling back to Cape Town early the next morning had a good variety in it and was well prepared and packed. I highly recommend Clubview Guest House if you’re looking for a home away from home and excellent service."

Don't expect the ordinary, boring standard shape of room, nor the cool distance of professional demeanour that you might be used to from 4- to 5-star hotels... This is the opposite, the architecture is fascinating and inspiring, and the engagement from the owners, management and staff is super friendly and warmly welcoming. I come here every time I am in Pretoria on business. Why change a winning team?"

"The breakfast was great! Served buffet style it was possible to eat at leisure... We stayed at De Oude Herberg for one night after attending a family wedding. We appreciated the "no problem" response to allow us to check in earlier to get ready for the wedding. Our group consisted of my elderly mom, elderly uncle and my partner and I. It was great to find a place where we could get three ground floor rooms and a room with both a shower and a bath to meet accessibility needs of the older people in the group. Anna made us feel very welcome! I think the "detail" I appreciated the most is that there was extra coffee and tea available in the dining room to supplement the single portions in the rooms. All rooms are equipped with a kettle, cups and saucers, glasses, water and a mini fridge. Highly recommended as the perfect "wedding stayover" where we could return late after the reception not having to inconvenience anyone to unlock or open for us... "
