"Book a Stay at the OBX motel, wasn't sure what I was going to find. The place was amazing. A unique blend of old and new. New being high speed WiFi , Cable TV , microwave, mini fridge, K-cup coffee and AC was excellent. Old being the place is OLD I don't think you would be allowed to build so close to the waters edge today( I was in unit 106). The interior was clean, functional and in good repair. It s Old but not run down, it looked as though it was from the 1950 and not abused or perfectly restored. What I mean is some old motels have bathrooms with 20 layers of caulk around the tub, missing handles loose shower heads and patched together bits and pieces. This place look unused, like the day it was built in the 1950's, everything looked and functioned as new."

"Arrived late and found the room at 80 degrees and smells like pets. Exterior is very run down…notice they have no exterior pictures. The AC is an old window unit which cannot cool the room. The pillows are flat and uncomfortable. No shampoo provided. Contacted the owner who text me a tutorial on pleating old AC window units. Offered a full refund if the AC acts up again. Paid $200 for the night. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. STAY AWAY."

"This is not a nice place and the pictures don’t show you what you get. To top it off, the staff called to verify our arrival and said nothing about the storm or the chance of being stuck on the island. We arrived and left, a good thing or we would have been stuck in this terrible room for a few days. Perhaps the owners see this as a wa to keep the rooms full. We took some pictures so you can get an accurate representation of the room. Notice the lamp, the worn out bedding and the missing pieces of blinds on our “oceanside room” (Don’t expect a view with an oceanside room). If you decide to stay in This area check the weather - we are from another state and didn’t think to, the hotel didn’t say anything until we arrived. We also suggest another hotel, stay clear of this one."

"Room had no trash can except for a tiny one in the bathroom, toilet paper was not replenished once it ran out, no closet or place to hang clothes. Window shade only came down 3/4 of the way so we had to hang a towel over the shade for privacy. (Room 5). Bed was comfortable. Owners should pay more attention to the details needed to run a successful property."
