Hotel de la Poste - Relais de Napoleon III ★★★★

"The hotel is reasonable. It can’t be anything more than this. Rooms (309/311) are on the 3rd floor with a river view. They are both sold as superior river view rooms. They do have river views but are not superior in any way if you’ve stayed in other hotels. There is no air conditioning ( the hotel is old and built from stone and wood - and heats up to the point where you cannot sleep) but a noisy electric fan is provided. There are no USB charging sockets in the room and the shower is basic with distinctly average shower gel / shampoo bottle attached to the wall. The floor is wooden and squeaks a lot and the decor is bland (although this is, of course, subjective). In our view it needs a desperate refurbishment of the bedrooms and bathrooms….some of the rooms have a refurbished bathroom if you’ve stayed ask. The hotel has an underground secure (ish) garage for cars and motorbikes accessed via a room key from outside and inside. There are additional charges for parking - approx €18-20 euros for a car and half that for motorbikes per night. Location wise it is good as it is in the centre of town right by the bridge and the food is good with friendly service staff. Nice bar and restaurant area for views and evening meals / breakfast. Breakfast is basic continental affair and they offer a half board with 3 course meal options…which we took and had carrot soup as an amuse bouche for the first 3 days! You can ask to go a la carte which offers a few other dishes. The middle aged lady on reception was reasonably unhelpful and couldn’t really be bothered to help - with any request greeted with a sigh like it was too much trouble - perhaps she should recognise she works in hospitality and perhaps try to help guests a bit harder? Apparently it’s a family run hotel and this is not my first time staying here. Overall it’s an ok place to stay if visiting Bouillon for a couple of days - but it also appears there is a new hotel being built almost next door due to open summer 2026 - I think we will look there in future! This is for the reasons outlined above - the rooms need an urgent upgrade to modern standards and the attitude of the front desk lady need to be more friendly and helpful. I’m paying a lot of money to stay here and felt like an unwanted guest."

"Les photos sur le site ne sont absolument pas la réalité. Le bâtiment en travaux et du coup très sale. Une chambre qui ressemble à une chambre de prison et pas de toilette dans la chambre, du coup à partager avec l’étage. Den fløde, du skal lave sin seng selv. Ikke rengjort af meget smuttet slag. Meget støjende hotel indtil 2 om morgenen. Mellemt morgenmad. Til sidst vil jeg ikke anbefale det."

"Very nice break in perfect disconnection mode. Even the little one enjoyed spending the evening playing cards in the trailer. This great cocooning experience must be repeated. Welcome and breakfast with top local flavors!"

"Vi tilbragte en halvnat i dette hotel, og opholdet var særligt behageligt. Værelset var varmt og personligt, rent og funktionelt værelse, en fremragende middag (4 service) og en meget god morgenmad. Det førende morgenmadskommandosystem gør det muligt at undgå spild og er meget værdsat. Den gode bongo tilbyder også en kop af apero bobler. Specielt dedikeret til charmerende ejere, der er dynamiske, effektive og administrerer hotellet med 2 hænder af mestre. Hjørnet er besat af dejlige gåture med smukke udsigter."
