"And unattractive entrance and lacklustre reception ‘greets’ new arrivals. The room we had was dated and not well maintained, with no air conditioning, a poor quality TV, no mini-bar, and many fittings looking the worst for wear. A somewhat uninspiring view over a muddy dam is the reward for a torturous ride over the last seven kilometres on something bearing little resemblance to a road. Our room had been meagrely serviced with bath mats and other items missing. If this hotel wants to attract guests they are going to have to up their game - there are better options in this beautiful part of the world."

"Vores erfaring i Cinzaco var dejlig i alle henseender.Selv om Helga ankom efter 8pm på en vindelig og regnig efterårsaften, bydede Helga os varmt velkommen på receptionen og tilbød nyttige forslag til lokale middagssteder. Vi boede i gæstehuset, som havde et smukt dekoreret, tidligt værelse.Det ensuite badeværelse omfattede en dobbelt bruser, en sjælden og velkommen funktion. Efter en lang dags arbejde og rejse blev de komfortable senge og kvalitetslinjer særligt værdsat.Selv om jeg normalt undgår at blive i værelserne i huse, ville jeg gerne vende tilbage til Cinzaco uden tøven. Derudover er der et stedfrit kaffeområde, en hyggelig lounge og et udendørs spiseplads tilgængeligt på ejendommen. Selv om jeg ikke var sikker på, om jeg skulle nævne det, vil jeg gerne udtrykke min formelle anerkendelse af den tankevækkende morgenoverraskelse med take-off-posen."

"This review is relatively objective being my 20th road trip, this year encompassing 17 properties over a 43 night period. I stayed 3 nights solo in April. Easily found just outside of Dullstroom and its shops/restaurants. A real old school property that has been well maintained and sympathetically brought up to date without losing any of its undoubted charm and character. Friendly, professional and efficient staff throughout. My chalet, with an unobstructed view across the valley to the mountains, was large, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Excellent quality bed linen and towels. The fireplace on the cool evenings was especially warming, literally and for the soul! Excellent old school public areas, bar and restaurants with plenty of fireplaces. Think linen table cloths in the main restaurant. The terrace restaurant provided a less formal ambience. Food was excellent in quality throughout. Breakfast was taken outside overlooking a pool in the early morning sunshine - very, very pleasant. I hired a mountain bike to tour the whole property, which was interesting. However, the bike itself did need some serious maintenance on the brakes - almost non existent on downward slopes - tricky! I also walked up to the hilltop viewpoint. The well maintained path was paved most of the way, which made it much safer during periods of inclement weather. All of this comes at a price, but does provide value for money."

Dunkeld East Hotel ★★★★

"My husband and I haven’t had any breaks in 2024, so we decided to spoil ourselves with luxury breakaway at ‘luxury’ accommodation in Dullstroom for a romantic long weekend. We booked out a day earlier - need I say more? The pin on Google maps took us on a very dodgy, dark road that didn’t even lead to the accommodation, but rather deep into the woods. If we weren’t in a 4x4 there would have been severe damage to the tyres and shocks. When we arrived at the premises, the gate was locked (this was around 7pm), with a handwritten note on a wet paper saying ‘please call me’ and an illegible number. Eventually the guard came to the gate to open up after being away from his post for who knows why. The staff were uninterested in serving us and the general manager was on leave over a busy long weekend. The cleaning lady asked us to leave our room key with her to clean during the day while we were out in town (leaving all out valuables and personal items in our room). In effect this meant that we had a dirty room for 4 days, as we refused to leave our key with staff. The general dining area is aesthetically beautiful, but the staff played loud (non-tranquil) music during dinner and breakfast, spoiling the serene atmosphere one would hope for in an establishment like this. All in all, our experience was far below the expectation created by a 4-star boutique hotel and we decided to go home earlier, as it was cleaner, more pleasant and more comfortable than Dunkeld East Hotel."

"Excellent venue for trout fishing. Been there twice. This time however a cold front took fish of the bite. The chalets are excellent equipped and very cosy once the fire is burning. The dams are on your front stoep and the staff extremely friendly. Please is well kept and well looked after. Wifi and TV is not up to scratch as signal is dropped non stop and it is an effort to watch anything or to use the internet."

"Vi tilbringer fire nætter med min familie.Vejr, der fører til stedet, er slet ikke gode.Men udsigterne fra gaten til receptionen er spektakulære.Check ind var hurtig.Vi bookede på hestemanden, der er lidt langt fra receptionen. Vores to soveværelses villa var stor nok.Vi brugte 1818 restaurant mest.Vi fløj endda på vores sidste nat.Der er aktiviteter at gøre inden for ejendommen, herunder flyfiskeri.Vi besøgte Highland Gate Golf og Trout Estate. Vi gik også til Milly's Farmshall og restaurant.Det er fredeligt og roligt.Jeg ville helt sikkert gå tilbage."
