"Carpe Diem er et helt charmerende, lille, boutique-hotel i smukke, ægte Arcanes.Jeg blev her en nat efter ankomsten til Heriklion, og en anden nat før afgang. Det er et perfekt sted at komme til/fra lufthavnen, museer og Knossos. Eleni, ejeren/værten er virkelig fantastisk...Hun var så ægte venlig og velkommen, hjalp mig med taxitransport, vejledning, og gør en absolut lækker morgenmad spredt, der ikke skal gå glip af!Min eneste beklagelse er, at jeg ikke kunne blive længere. Carpe Diem og Arcanes var et fremhævelse af min spektakulære første rejse til Kreta.Hvis du vil have en virkelig smuk oplevelse af Kreta, så bliv her!Du vil ikke fortryde det."

"The pool is much smaller than it seems on the internet site: you can hardly swim 2-3 m without reaching the opposite side. And it is just in the middle of the courtyard, with people walking 30cm away from your towel to go across the courtyard and go out of the hotel. Idem for the suite room: very small. No sofa contrary to what you see on the site; very small space to put your stuff so you have to keep it in your suitcases and when you open them, you can hardly walk through the room... Restaurant: the breakfast buffet is disappointing too, little choice, clearly not a 5-star breakfast buffet. We went to the restaurant for dinner: there was very few people but we had to wait 50mn before getting our meal! So in a nutshell it is clearly not at the level of a 5-star standard and the hotel internet site doesn't reflect the reality. Everything is much smaller than expected. Just acceptable for 1-2 nights, no more."

"We loved this small quaint hotel but I found communication with the owner almost non existent unless she was communicating with us. When I made the reservation I had inquired about a taxi for an early morning departure to the port and I never received a response. I figured I would wait until we arrived. When we arrived the owner was not there we were just given a code to get into the hotel and then to our room. The only time I received communication was to inform us of a party that was to happen the night before our departure and what time did we think we would arrive and then what time were we going to have breakfast. It felt like a very self service hotel. I was appreciative that the owner did allow us to change from 3 nights to 2 nights so that we could preposition ourselves closer to the port for an early morning departure. A couple of recommendations would be to show on the website where the parking is for the hotel (near the mini mart by the way) and to ask what the client would like for breakfast, ie we do not drink orange juice. Other than that, this is a charming, cute hotel and once I finally met the owner on the day of our departure I felt like I had a better feel for the history of this stay. It is the owners grandmothers home that she recently renovated. A cute town with options to eat on foot and many wineries close by even an olive oil place to visit (book ahead). "
