We were in Vella in February, the weather was beautiful, every day we had a cocktail on the beach under a palm tree right at noon and looked at this magnetic ocean. The hotel is a beautiful maintained jungle, the sand is white and fine, the restaurants were unique, the service was impeccable, and the children's club amused our child so much that we only saw him in the evening. In the evening at the restaurant, on the beach, there was a spectacular program, with beautiful decoration and incredible cuisine... For a long time after we got home, my thoughts drifted to Velaa, I think a part of me stayed there waiting for me…

Congratulations to the staff, management and owners as Velaa continues to make one feel relaxed, pampered, lucky and grateful for being there. This was our fourth visit in four years and the staff tend to be familiar as well as excellent at showing one what is available to do. The staff all say that the owner looks after them so well, which in turn means they look after their guests with a sense of generous pride. Every building and facility on the island is beautifully built and maintained down to details that show the entire place is intended to be a wonderful experience rather than just a commercial operation. Thank you to everyone at Velaa, we had a marvellous holiday, again.

Magical 2 week break. Beach bungalows were beautiful. Amazing value for money. Food was a buffet not brilliant for vegans but overall very good. Staff were lovely. Always so eager to make our holiday perfect. Shame beach bar had no beach but an amazing holiday all round .

Our stay at Velaa Private Island was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the highest level of care and attention. Hana greeted us at the airport, escorting us to the private lounge and offering us hot beverages while our seaplane was being prepared—a thoughtful and welcoming touch. Upon arrival at the island, Azil was there to meet us at the jetty with a warm welcome. Our butler then took us to our room, giving us a tour and ensuring we were comfortable. The room was stunning, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent there. Special thanks to Mode, who went above and beyond to assist us and show us around the island, making sure we had the best possible experience. We also appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the girl at the restaurant (whose name I unfortunately can’t recall) – her service was outstanding. Overall, our experience at Velaa Private Island was unforgettable. The attention to detail, impeccable service, and beautiful surroundings made for an excellent stay, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience! The Ocean Villa was exceptional, service and private butler fast and effective! Ali thank you! Amenities of the best quality… We tried most of the activities and we had tones of options! Scuba diving and sea-bob snorkeling gave us the best of memories! What a colorful world under the sea… Only the weather let us down… two days of raining but still in this hotel we had plenty of stuff to keep us pleasantly busy… The treatments in the spa and wellness center GREAT! Promise to return in the near future

We went to Velaa and got an unpleasant first impression from one of the staffs saying "try to get more tips from her". It was truly a very sad thing to see.

I have stayed at quite a number of luxury hotels and resorts in Asia, and have had a fair share of experience on butler service. Disappointedly, I think my stay at Velaa is one the most frustrating experience I have ever had, considering the room rate is over USD $3000 per night. My disappointment can be summarized as follows: 1) I visited the main restaurant - Athiri for dinner on 17 Nov. There was a billing mistake and I was charged for something that should not be charged. This set the tone of the stay and revealed the carelessness among the staff members. 2) The butler appeared to be not well-trained. I transferred from Cheval Blanc Randheli to Velaa on 17 Nov 2023, and upon check in, I already felt the butler service was not up to my expectation. The service style was so sloppy and inattentive that it seemed there was not much training offered, regarding proper butler service that is up to the standard of a Forbes five-star hotel. For instance, i) Before my check out, I asked my butler to pack the luggage for me. After packing, he took my luggage to the front office. After he took my luggage away, I discovered that he actually did not pack any of the clothes in my wardrobe (on the left side of the bedroom), and they were all still in my wardrobe! This showed how careless the butler was, even when packing was one of his most basic job! I immediately contacted him and told him about this mistake, but he attempted to blame me instead. He said that during unpacking, he only placed my clothes in the wardrobe on the right side of the bedroom, and it was my fault for not telling him that some clothes were in the left wardrobe! As a butler, isn't his job is to do a thorough check of the wardrobes during packing? And to be honest, I placed the clothes in the left wardrobe after bathing (the night prior) by myself (instead of calling the butler to do so) was because I already got the impression that the butler was not very good at his job, and I did not want to disturb him at night by calling him to come to my villa just to place my clothes in the wardrobe. So, in the end, my mercy act of "not giving extra for the butler to do" actually became the reason the butler blamed me for his mistake! How ridiculous is this? It was so shocking to me that for my room costing over USD $3000 per night, the staff would blame the guest in such a manner! Again, this reinforced my statement that there was inadequate customer service training offered to staff at this resort. In contrast, my butler at Cheval Blanc Randheli actually searched my villa thoroughly during the packing process to make sure he had left nothing behind. ii) On the afternoon of 17 Nov 2023, I wanted to go for snorkeling for a while in the ocean in front of my villa. I was not a good swimmer, so I informed my butler about this so that he could check on me and make sure no accident would happen to me. He just did not appear to be interested in this job and did not particularly want to help m

We spent an amazing week on that island. Food, service, people, accommodation, activities were 10 out of 10. I can not find a thing that was not ok. There is so much to do: squash, tennis, paddle, beach volleyball, football, basketball, badminton, gym… they have two exceptional spa centers with tons of different treatments. We stayed at the island villa which, upon arrival, left us speechless. Private pool, private beach, two chill areas… Restaurants are so good that I would give them a michelin star. Our butlers, Mode and Haleem, were extremely kind. I have not met so kind people before, they did the impossible, possible. I would highly recommend visiting this gem if you are travelling to Maldives. You will not be disappointed, believe me!

Over priced for what it offers and comparing to onther fiver star hotels in Maldives. Very inflexible about early check in/out, regular food, dirty gym, bad AC at the gym. Delayed flights. My experience in another resorts were the better..

Everything works on this island - the villas, the ways of eating, the sports, the smiles and the willingness. With such high ambitions and standards a visitor here can have a very busy but deeply peaceful time. Hats off to the management, the butlers, groundsmen, housekeepers, cooks, barmen, gym instructors, diving instructors, boat crews, laundrymen, spa therapists, technicians and apologies for the skills I over-looked - you run the island like a ship at sea with such skill. Congratulations to the owner too - Velaa is a triumph.

This place was so amazing! Great beaches and a lot of activities, they have exotic diving experiences, a lot of water sport , electric foil surf boards , and the tandem jetovayor Private golf court , they have big tennis court with solo wall , alao brand new Paddle court and squash court , climbing wall , football pitch , yoga , meditation sessions , and amazing spa with sauna , steam room and winter room full of ice ! Was very incredible! Amazing restaurant over the water and we had the amazing pleasure of doing a private dinner in a sand bar in the mottle of the ocean ! Also we had the opportunity of staying on a romantic bungalow apart from everyone call the romantic residence! Just wow Amazing experience! Our butler ALI Very patient and super efficient, always in top of out needs day and night ! Definitely will be coming back soon 🙏❤️

The best hotel or resort experience ever. From the moment we arrived at the international airport and were transferred to the island we felt like royalty. The restaurant experiences were out of this world. The different ambience in different restaurants was spectacular. I am 100% sure they have the best wine collection of any resort. The spa facilities and treatments were memorable. There’s actually no need to leave the villa but we felt almost obliged to because it’s all so great. We will be back soon thank you Velaa, Nazira(butler) and all the team that made our 20th Anniversary memorable. PS The photo shoot was amazing and fun

Maldives is a place we have longed for a long time but spending our 10th yr anniversary at Velaa Private Island was more than we dreamt. The hospitality was the amazing, I mean, where else will you have your table wiped at every drop from of water or spill from your food while eating at one of the restaurants (Tavaru). Our butler was truly a call away at "any time". They even had a pillow menu to choose the type of pillow you want when the down pillow they had was already dreamy. They were very thoughtful and had an amazing surprise for us well decorated with flowers, champagne and their well wishes for us. We absolutely loved our experience there and we look forward to our next visit at one of their beach houses with our kids.

I would like to thank Salim from the reservations department and his team for having accommodated a last-minute request to deliver flowers to guests staying in the hotel. There were no more flights from Male that day to bring in flowers and instead of saying there’s nothing that could be done, Salim and his team went the extra mile to source the flowers locally. They made a breathtaking bouquet and seamlessly planned its delivery so that it would be a surprise. Stellar service deserving of respect. Thank you!
