Items that you may need. You may also find toiletries like toothbrushes and first-aid items in the medicine cabinets and under the bathroom lavatories. If you sleep on the pull-outs, hang your clothes or lake towels from the armoire.Open the sliding glass doors and step onto the terrace. The full bath is located next to the bedroom.LAKE & DOCKOn the dock, you will discover multiple-sized life jackets, floats, two paddleboards, two kayaks, A large swim mat, and a five-seater peddle boat. You must wear a lifejacket on any watercraft or risk getting a ticket from the GA Lake Patrol.The dock has a broad sunning platform, relaxing loungers and Adirondack chairs, two benches, and a couple tables for early morning coffee, afternoon snacks, or a glass of wine. If you have a license (get online), you can fish right off our dock or take a peddle boat for cove fishing. Our cove is known for some of the best catches on the lake. On the terrace, you will find fishing rods, a bait trap, and a fishing box with lures. Inside, on the lake level, you will find a bucket of fish food to lure them close. Good luck catching the big one! Live bait can be purchased at the marinas or Walmart, only 12-15 minutes away.BRING YOUR BOATDuring the summer months, you can bring your own boat at no cost. Jack's Creek public access boat ramp is just 10 minutes away. You can dock your boat alongside our dock, where we have installed ropes. If you need to rent a boat, three rental marinas are nearby. The house has 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms upstairs with a open concept kitchen, dining room, & living room with gas fireplace, large vaulted ceilings & cathedral windows, a wooden deck with outdoor dining & a gas grill. Downstairs is another living room with gas fireplace, a game room,2 additional bedrooms and bath, & a separate entrance which opens to a downstairs brick patio. TVs are available in each bedroom and living room. Perfect for a romantic weekend or extended families who wants a lakefront mountain getaway.We are a 20 minute drive from Blairsville, Blue Ridge, & Murphy NC. A detailed guest book will be sent to you upon booking to assist with planning your trip, but if you want to explore past Lake Nottely, there are numerous activities in the area for your enjoyment: Hiking Trails including the Appalachian trail & Benton MacKaye Trail with swinging bridge, Brasstown Bald (the highest peak in GA), Bell Mountain, Mercier's Orchard, Harrah's Casino, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, waterfalls, horseback riding, ziplining, breweries, spas, wineries, shopping, & restaurants. We have several itineraries for day trips in the car to explore the area. Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the mountain area to see the fall colors and enjoy the cool mountain air. Multiple festivals happen throughout the year and a calendar of events is located in the house guest book or online through the Union County Chamber of Commerce. The Sorghum Festival, GA Mountain Fair, John Campbell Folk School Fall Festival & Possum Drop (on New Year's Eve), Fire & Ice Festival, & Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games are just a few examples.Lake Nottely was formed in 1942 by the damming of the Nottely River for flood control & power generation. It is 20 miles long and stretches from Blairsville, GA almost to the NC border. Approximately 70% of it's shoreline is US Forest Service and therefore undeveloped so although there are many homes and boats on the lake you can often find a cove all your own for a peaceful swim. Enjoy a day of fishing for Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted, or Striped Bass, Black Crappie, Yellow Perch, or Catfish. Lake levels are controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority & fluctuate based on time of year, rainfall, flood control, & power generation. This is typical of most lakes in the North Georgia Mountains. Lake Nottely is usable year round, but our dock is usable from approximately late April through early September most years.
