We spent a full year carefully shaping every corner of this townhouse, and at last, it has become a warm retreat we are proud to share. This machiya embraces the timeless charm of traditional Kyoto architecture while offering the comfort and convenience of modern living. Every detail reflects our love for this city and our wish to welcome travelers from around the world.
All bedrooms are laid with soft tatami mats, filling the air with the gentle fragrance of straw and creating a calm, soothing atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you’ll feel the warmth of a true home. At night, as you rest in fluffy Japanese-style bedding, you might imagine the faint sway of wooden shoji doors, bringing a deep sense of peace.
The house is fully equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, and all the essentials for both short stays and longer visits. High-speed Wi-Fi makes it easy to work remotely or stay connected with loved ones. We hope your time here will be both authentic and relaxing—like living in Kyoto as if it were your own home.
Our townhouse sits directly across from the Shimabara Art Museum, in a historic neighborhood that once thrived as a hanamachi (geisha district). The area still retains its quiet and nostalgic charm. A short 5-minute walk brings you to JR Tambaguchi Station and Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station, just one stop from Kyoto Station (around 5 minutes by train). Within walking distance you’ll also find Umekoji Park, the Kyoto Railway Museum, and the Kyoto Aquarium—perfect for families. Bus stops nearby offer direct access to Kiyomizu Temple, Gion, Shijo Kawaramachi, and other must-see spots without transfers. Just 30 meters from the house, a large natural hot spring bathhouse awaits, where you can unwind and rejuvenate after a day of exploring.
