Look, this is an average property. It served me well as a solo traveler as I had daytime activities everyday. The room was clean, bed comfortable, towels were decent. The location was perfect. Front desk and housekeeping staff were great! And under other circumstances, I’d give it a 4. The following did not change my rating, but FYIs. The pillows were like the pillows that I provide patients in the ambulance – not much better than disposable. The room was HOT, even with the radiator off. I try to honor the rules and the property didn’t want the window left open during the day even though it was angled to avoid rain. I opened it at night (had to prop it open), but ½ way through the night, the room was cold. Also, this property is managed more as a hostel rather than a hotel. And I only saw middle aged adults here. Lots of signage about what to do and not to do. And a 10 USD charge if the key card was lost. That is just a money grab. A hotelier friend of mine tells me that the key cards cost about 0.25 USD and that is for a small property; and should be a cost of doing business. Yet, my key card had to be reset four times – go to my room and then back downstairs again. The property didn’t give me a 10 USD credit each time for my inconvenience. Finally, hostel quality TP. Needed to use 5 squares so that my finger didn’t go through the paper. Likely if a higher quality TP was used, less TP would be used. Why a 2? In 2024, for all of my public reviews, 1 star will be lost for lack of bedside plugs even if it is the best 5 star property in the world. It is 2024, not 2004. I had to unplug a lamp so that my phone could charge by the bed. The plug bricks are like 10 USD from Amazon. This property lost another 2 stars for its breakfast. Absolutely the worst post-COVID hotel breakfast I’ve had. To put this in perspective, I had 93 hotel nights in 2023, almost all with breakfast. Everything here was out of a box or out of a can. The pastries were stale (and specific to this property because I had some good pastries in Ushuaia). And eggs were extra cost. What really pushed this over the edge was the breakfast staffer glaring at me when I filled my own 8 oz coffee cup to take back to the room (apparently nothing is to leave the breakfast room). I ended up going to local restaurants for two breakfasts. Lots of room for guest friendly improvements at little cost for this property.
