What a beautiful hotel! I loved the view and the feel of it. Also being able to take a bath and seeing the skyline by night. I miss it already! Spacious room and attentive staff. Sauna and pool were of comfortable temperature and clean. Location perfect! Thank you very much! Bonus: pillow menu. I slept better on latex pillow.

Okura has an excellent breakfast and very friendly cleaning staff! There are many restaurants and bars in the hotel. It is close to the subway and the shopping Huaihai area.

This room is not as nice as the room with twin beds. The down pillow available on the pillow menu was very flat. Actually, all of the pillows were not really good for sleeping on (they all deflated very quickly). Still, the pillow menu is a nice touch. Additionally, one of the lights by the night stand didn’t work. The temperature of the faucet and bathtub were not easy to control and moderate easily.

We had an excellent stay of 6 nights. The staff are very attentive, and even left us a few more bottles of water after noticing that we had finished our purchased bottles. The highlights include the grand architecture of the hotel, its garden, and the facilities that include gym, pool, bath and sauna. We will be back when traveling in Shanghai.

Huaihai Road is just a few mins walk from the hotel. Very convenient. The hotel is old but well kept. The breakfast is nice although the queue could be quite long during busy hours on weekdays.

Lovely hotel in historic building. Fantastic location in French Quarter. Spotlessly clean. Superb but not inexpensive French and Teryaki restaurants. Wonderful historic art deco buildings with lovely faded grandeur. Room I had very clean but ready for mild update new chairs and a walk in shower would have been nice.

Greate hotel, very clean and very nice staff. Location is amazing for a walk to the shopping area.

It was useful that trip tells you the size of the beds so that you can determine whether they’re big enough to share with children. Lots of the hotels say that children can stay free, but the beds are no way big enough. The shanghai garden hotel has 2x 1.2m single beds in a standard room, which is considered a small double in the uk, and was comfortable for my family of 4. We visited the swimming pool during our stay and it was very refreshing. Be advised it is mandatory to wear swim cap. Which will have to be purchased if you don’t have it. Breakfast was vast, lots of choice of Chinese, Japanese and western style. We particularly enjoyed 混沌汤, 点心。 Disappointed with the 包子, 生煎包 - which didn’t really have much filling, flavour, and 油条 - which wasn’t fluffy felt it was cooked from frozen. Particularly annoying when we were asked to pay the high full price for our small 12 year old and half price for 7 year old, rather than by height which is what other hotels do. They hardly ate anything! Consider being more family friendly!

The **South Shaanxi Road Metro** (Line 1/10) is a 5-minute stroll away—ideal for exploring. **Dining & Service:** - **Yamazato** (Japanese restaurant): ★★★★★! The sushi counter was transcendent, with flown-in ingredients. Pricey but worth it. - **Garden Café**: Solid international buffet, though the spread could use more local flavors. - **Service**: Staff were polished and proactive—they remembered my coffee preference by day two. I had a wonderful stay at Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai. I truly appreciated the excellent cleanliness throughout the hotel. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of choices. I especially loved the beautiful garden atmosphere—so many trees and greenery that made it feel like a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. The hotel’s charming gothic-style architecture added a unique and elegant touch to the experience. Plus, its central location made it very easy to get around Shanghai. Highly recommended!

It was not easy to travel with elderly people aged 88 this time. We were glad that the hotel provided excellent service during our stay and we enjoyed the meal discount offer of the in-house outlets. We loved the Japanese restaurant the most. The hotel staff was very friendly and caring, especially the front desk staff when we checked in. They upgraded our room taking into account an extra bed needed for 3 of us and one is an old age.

The hotel is quite old. Check in was quite fast but the attitude of the staff at check in are quite bad. Breakfast was average. Underwhelming for hotel this level. Staff were quite bad and lazy and don’t clean up plates and other things till you have left the table Seems like they treat Caucasian looking hotel guests better than Asian ones. Waiters were all very arrogant

The hotel staff provided a warm, welcoming experience and my overall stay was quite pleasant. The only drawback was the somewhat outdated room decor and furnishings, which could benefit from modernization.

Their breakfast spread is superb !!! Chinese / Japanese / continental. Food is delicious. Plenty of seating capacity. The staff are helpful and attentive.
