Hotel Riu Palace Santa Maria - All Inclusive

Good flights from Newcastle and 20 min transfer to the hotel. The reception is very nice with a piano bar, coffee bar, and cocktail bar. The room we had 6118 was very modern with a great shower. There was a free mini bar in the room which was spotlessly clean as is the whole hotel and grounds. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet with no noise at nigh. All the staff from the cleaners, gardeners, waiters, managers and everyone else are so friendly, they will do anything to help you. The food is great plenty of choice. It is all fresh and hot as is the a' la carte restaurants. You need to use the Riu app to book the a' la carte and you have to be quick so book as soon as soon as you get you wi-fi password. On saying that the wi-fi is pretty good. There are quite a few pools 2 of them with a swim up bar and also a small water park tucked away so you can't hear it while you relax near the pools. There are plenty sunbed's around the pools so even at say 10:30am you shouldn't have a problem getting a couple next to each other and there's plenty more on the beach. The beach is unreal !, very long with soft sand , no stones and very very clean. The sea does have quite a strong current so take notice of the lifeguards. Overall a brilliant hotel and we are already planning to go back later this year.

This was our second trip to this hotel after first visiting in 2023 and was just as good as the first time, we had a swim up pool in Villa 1 which was really quiet and had the sun on it from 10 am onwards. Room was very clean & comfortable, mini bar was topped up every other day or on request. Beach is excellent, when we first visited we had daily harassment from beach vendors this is now managed better so the beach is more relaxing Didn't use the pools as had our own swim up room and the beach but the pools did look very busy and noisy in parts so glad we had our own space Food was good ate in the a la carte every night, booked through the hotel app without issue, all were good. Buffet at lunch and breakfast can be busy but there is a quieter room at the back of the main restaurant Bars and service are excellent, good choice of drinks, if I'm being picky the "Irish cream" is a poor imitation of Bailey's Grounds and gardens are immaculate and constantly being cleaned, tidied or manicured Our only real issue with the hotel is the gym, it is far too small and poorly equipped for a hotel of this standard and size, the booking system to limit usage due to size is restrictive, this in my opinion really needs to be looked at as we saw people turned away frustrated on a daily basis whilst the booking system wasn't policed with people overstaying their alloted slot making the gym too busy, especially when there are only 6 sets of dumbbells!! The entertainment is heavily aimed at kids and the later shows are very hit & miss with karaoke twice a week for the main show. Overall the hotel is excellent and we were sad to leave

The hotel was great, food 10/10 lots of choice and was freshly prepared and tasted good. Book the al a carte restaurants the two we went to were very nice, only issue we had was the other two were constantly fully booked and would have liked to go to the steakhouse. Cleanliness of the whole hotel was good. The rooms were cleaned each day by very polite staff. One minor issue was the mini bar didn’t get restocked but I spoke to reception and it was done straight away. Plenty of pools to chose from none of them were overcrowded even though it was half term week. And if you want quieter sunbathing the beach is straight out the hotel. Make sure you take pegs or elastic bands to keep the towel in place due to the breeze, the breeze is lovely when sunbathing.

Huge hotel - certainly get your steps in without trying! lots of space, plenty of sunbeds and shade. Fantastic beach and vista but sea rough with strong undercurrent but plenty of pools to use. Main buffet restaurant was good quality with lots of variety. Had trouble with the app so couldn’t book reservations in all the restaurants. We tried two - Italian and Japanese. They were not to our expectations so stuck to main buffet. Rooms were clean and beds comfy and nice small private balcony. Lots of entertainment all day and evening and a great little coffee bar as well as small water park attached - great fun. We ventured out for island tour, snorkelling and paddling with lemon shark pups. Would not recommend snorkelling unless sea is calm. Highly recommend lemon sharks.
