The Tan Hill Inn

Character pub in a unique, isolated, and beautiful location, unfortunately, that all it has going for it. We attended a tribute band act, which was very good and had a meal in the pub which was overpriced and very average quality, the service was also terrible. We ordered 2 steak pies, 1 with mash and garden peas, and 1 with chips and mushy peas, quite a simple order me thinks, but apparently not !!!!! The food arrived and was abruptly plonked on our table by a rude waitress who turned on her heels before we could even realise the food was wrong, both had chips and mushy peas instead of 1 chips and mushy and 1 mash and garden peas. She walked away without asking if we would like any sauces, etc. I had to go to the far side of the pub to get some vinegar. There was no check back to see if all was ok. In summary, it is in a great location, but it's very expensive and serves average food at best with poor service to top it off, we will not be returning and would not reccomend it.

Sadly our 4th trip wasn’t as good as normal. Dome smelt mouldy. Main light didn’t work,Gate was broken Banging in the wind had to use a brick not ideal when going to the toilet at night. Door plank of wood stuck on door & new lock not repaired properly wind kept blowing it open. Open biscuits in room from previous guests not checked. Floor soaking wet in room. Tea- seat broken had to put cushion under. Seat dirty not been wiped Tried to email 3 times but getting ignored. Sad as we love this place.

During walking The Pennine Way I planned a stop her. To sleep, drink,eat. Wonderfull place with fireplaces. Nice room for live music thu-sat. Really nice People, good choises of different beurs, good food. I slept in the bunkroom. It was clean, new, good washroom. Will go back for sure if I'm in north England

I had my wedding at Tan Hill Inn 23rd Jan and the whole experience was unforgettable from start to finish. I had compliments from all my guests regarding the rooms, service, food, facilities and atmosphere! I want to give a special mention to the staff, El, Kelly and David, you were all fabulous and really did go the extra mile for everyone so thank you! I particularly loved the fact you joined us all on the dance floor! Thank you for making our day so special, we can’t wait to return for our anniversary already ❤️ xxx

The Inn did not disappoint, fabulous location, very cosy with roaring open fire on what was a very cold night. Staff were lovely, friendly, efficient and very helpful. Good choice of ales and beer. Food was good too with a decent menu, generous portions at reasonable prices

Fabulous location with amazing views. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent and the warm atmosphere great. Would recommend anyone to check this place out regardless of the time of year. Wish I had gotten snowed in.
