Silken Gran Hotel del Sella

Ground floor has a nice 50s / 60s style. Room on top floor facing the sea is dated but still comfortable. Large balcony with nice views was a great asset but wooden chairs could be replaced for something definnitely more welcoming ! Poor service (check in, bar ...) but breakfast was good and staff attentive. The place has an old-fashioned charm (which I quite like). Just do not expect luxury or be treated as a VIP and all will be perfect !

The place does no justice to its name. No a/c, noisy if you opened the windows at night. Unable to sleep well. Restaurant not good at all, very limited menu and not enough choices for a 5 star hotel. The hotel itself is very run down, needs to be closed and remodeled.

After 30km walking you just want comfort and no hassle. Daniel on reception delivered that in spades! He brought my case to my room, and when I wasn’t entirely happy with it he moved me. Daniel you are a superstar for guests, thanks so much!!!!

Hotel was in a great location with a lovely pool and direct beach access as well as a padel court. Because of this, many other aspects are disregarded as important. Some staff at reception were great as were the staff at the cafes and restaurants. Staff at the reception desk, in particular the supervisor/ manager didn’t take our incident seriously which resulted in my partner being burnt. The shower changed temperature to scolding hot without us touching it and resulted in my partner screaming out of the shower and his chest having burn marks. After raising the incident at reception, nothing was done. I raised it again and the supervisor came, turns out he’d overheard about the issue and didn’t do anything about it. He asked me for the room number and just said sorry we will see what went wrong, extremely unapologetic and disingenuous for what is an extremely dangerous experience. Given this is a very family oriented hotel, that incident could cause serious damage to kids and highly doubt anything will be done to resolve it going forwards given the attitude and lack of concern we received. The hotel is outdated and lots of aspects are not 4* level along the price we paid which was £250 per night. Spending that money elsewhere gives you a far more relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Leaving Llanes, the best weather of the trip so far, so took a longer ride into the Picos, via Cangas de Onis, unfortunately coinciding with "brake failure" flashing on the bike... better ride slowly! Ride into Ribadesella cautious, but I've been here before so I know the way. Hotel good, Check In much better since the last time, with excellent staff. I had a room past the swimming pool and overlooking the estuary. It was very clean and nice. Great couple of days, recommended.

Called here to ask if we could have lunch and use their ev charger (maybe the only one in the town!). Not a problem, excellent lunch, including a cycle pass by stage 17 of the Veulta!!!!! The staff were absolutely charming, car charged, payment rejected and an offer to return whenever we needed. We will defo be staying here next time.

A very grand hotel with fabulous location right on the beach promenade. We had a 4th floor room with balcony and sea view – absolutely wonderful to watch the ocean, surfers, fishermen, canoeists and boats and to hear the waves at night time. Plenty of parking but we opted to pay the extra for the private parking in the basement – an added bonus. A full and varied buffet breakfast and we also ate in the restaurant both nights – tasty fish dishes and great sunsets. Unfortunately too cold to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely. All staff very friendly, courteous and helpful despite some translation issues. Would recommend to friends and family.

The hotel has a lot going for it situated alongside an attractive beach and only being a ten minute walk to the lively town and its restaurants and cafes. We had a nice sea-view room which was comfortable enough although the soundproofing wasn't the best. Sadly, the weather wasn't warm enough for the swimming pool to be open, but it is a good size for swimming. The spa was also unavailable due to being refurbished. Apart from the view of the sea, the best feature of the hotel was the superb breakfast. The choice of fresh fruit was amazing as well as there being great bakery produce and choice of cheese, drink, etc.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is right on the beach across the river from the main town. We had a room with a sea view and balcony and it was great just hearing the waves at night. The room albeit a bit old fashioned was nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a really good choice of hot and cold food. The swimming pool area is nice and made a nice change from the beach and the pool was a decent size. The hotel does have a spa which unfortunately during our stay was only open sporadically which was disappointing as we didn't get to use it as much as we would have liked - the spa was also in need of a makeover in particular the showers.
