Tangkoko Ranger Homestay

Very dirty and worn down, do not trust the pictures. They treated wildlife very badly including shining bright flashlights for 30 minutes on nocturnal animals and shaking trees for "good photos". Bad and expensive food. No mosquito nets but rooms filled with spiders and mosquitos.

We stayed in Tangkoko for two nights - it was a nice stay, just at the gate to the park. Ibu (the lady) is the best cook ever - she cooks very well and everything is delicious. We also went for a night walk with Alfrets, the owner, and we quite enjoyed it although Alfrets was not too talkative, so we had to read on the animals that we've seen later on. In terms of accommodation, it's a homestay so don't expect the luxuru. But it's clean, with fresh sheets, mosquito nets, and the AC. That's enough for 2 nights jungle treks. Alfrets also organised a transport for us to Bitung after our stay.

Very nice stay right next to gate to National park. Rooms were nice and clean and even had an air conditioning. Owner arranged an evening tour for us, and it was perfect. Also his wife is a great cook, all the meals were good and portions generous. One morning we could watch wild monkeys going to steal rambutan directly from the trees. The dinner area was great for that :)

Grote, schone kamer met warme douche. De gids was erg goed en had respect voor de dieren. Hij heet Boy. De avondtour en ochtendtour gedaan. Geregeld door Alfrets. Hij heeft ook ons vervoer naar Manado geregeld. Kortom voor een prima prijs een goed verblijf gehad.
