A very well deserved 4-star hotel where everything works, the staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. They didn’t seem to expect tips. It’s an adult only hotel so quiet with lots of couples. Mostly an older demographic but plenty of younger people too. The internet is everywhere and very fast. Everywhere is very neat and clean. The hotel’s own private sandy beach is 25 meters away from the pools which are seawater filled, one being a jacuzzi. Loungers and shade are plentiful. Beach towels are supplied. The sea is shallow and rocky but there is a jetty with steps to get in at deeper areas. Life guards are on hand for the sea and the pools. The breakfast and lunch food are excellent and dinner in the Gazebo is especially good. Breakfast 7:30 to 10, Lunch 12:30 to 14:30 and Dinner 7:30 to about 10. Gluten free options are easily obtained. Ground decaff. coffee was available. Wine, cocktails and beers are very good and service is perfect. Evening drinks come with a lovely assortment of free snacks. The view over the bay to the mountain is lovely and sitting on the plentiful lawn couches, watching the sun go down is fabulous. They had a lovely singer entertaining us unobtrusively each evening. The room was great, the aircon controllable and as cool as you need it. There was plenty of hot water with good pressure and a bidet. Tea and coffee making, a minibar, robe and slippers as well as a safe were supplied. A nice TV was on the wall all in Italian. Our ‘Superior Room’ had doors to a private patio very near to the pools, beach & bar. We paid approx. €3k B&B including flights and transfers for 7 nights at the end of August. It got up to 31⁰C which was not too bad. There were lovely sea breezes cooling us. Every day was sunny. There is a nice gym, tennis courts (racquets and ball provided) and a Spa as well as a rec. room. Quite a few trips are available and can be booked with a nice special rep. in the foyer. Prices are not low but you do get what you pay for. We didn’t hold back on food & drinks and spent an extra €1,400. We spent €190 on a lovely catamaran trip. There is a bus service to and from Alghero, €5 each way per person, and a taxi costs €29 to €34 each way. Old Alghero not bad but a lot of the restaurants are not great. The hotel food is a hard act to follow. Lots of red coral jewelry shops. Nice walk along the city walls with cafés dotted along it. The nearest shop for water, etc is 1 km from the hotel.
