take plenty of fly spray and mosquito repellent antihistamine. We have been to many Rui hotels especially Caribbean and Boa Vista, thought we would give Sal a go, this is our honest opinion ill start with the positive first comfortable bed, good power shower, not a bad view of pool, adequate balcony vert tatty chairs, the, cleaner was very good, Main restaurant adequate, specialist venues, good, Now the not so happy bit, how can this be an adult only hotel when children are allowed in at night ?Especially on the neon night and white night when everyone is going crazy jumping up and down going mad and you have little tots under feet huge lasers that can damage eyes alcohol flowing come on that's not right !! for 4 days we couldn't get a sun bed around pool no body on the beds just towels, we could see them from our room going down at 6 am,aparently if you put your own towels down they where not allowed to remove them ? when you did get a bed my god they where absolutely filthy the pool area was a disgrace discarded cups glasses litter everywhere and flies ive never seem so many flies,The beach

Nice hotel, very clean and welcoming. Reception area stank of smoke though, old and new, to the point it had penetrated the soft furnishings. Nasty. Rooms were meticulously cleaned daily with a new swan shaped figurine to marvel at on our beds. The food was good by and all. It's difficult to cater with a huge variety, but what was on offer was very nice. Huge pool gripe. Clear notices NOT to reserve sunbeds, but it happens - daily. I took my picture at 7am!! Nobody there to police the ruling. Thank you for the fuss you made of my birthday. I'm glad I came. Footnote not hotel based. Do not engage with traders on the way to the beach. They'll take you on a tour of all the nasty made in China gift shops and a hideously expensive lunch. Stick with Tui. Entertainment not our thing, but it would have been nice to access the multi downloaded apps, ie Netflix, Amazon etc. Only BBC news available in English. Pretty poor really.

Just got back from Cabo Verde hotel after having a great two weeks there. I was a bit concerned about the bad reviews but needn't have worried. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the grounds are kept immaculate. The food in both the buffet and restaurants was good. Our room was cleaned and towels replaced every day and the minibar replenished every other day. Couldn't fault anything and overall had a great time.

The hotel is quite spread out. The grounds are lovely. Our room was very nice but from what a lot of other people said we were lucky as a lot said that mini fridge and air con did not work, reported but nothing done. We stayed in block 2 which was good as in the middle. The food was good tasty but a bit repetitive. We went to the Italian restaurant one night which needs to be booked using the app. The started which you help yourself to buffet style were nice but the mains not so good. Spinach lasagne two fish dishes and a pork fillet dish. As my wife doesn’t like fish or pork not a lot of choice left. I had the pork it was ok. Another night we went to the steak house restaurant it was nice but limited choice. The drinks I found nice and never had to wait to long. The beach was lovely but windy. I knew this before we came and did not bother me. The staff are very good. Friendly but not in your face. Maura who works on the pool bar was excellent and if she doesn’t get moved to the animation team there is something wrong. All in all I liked the hotel and would recommend it.

The hotel was clean and the staff were great. The entertainment was good with a mixture of shows, party nights and karaoke. The room were very good, slightly dated but clean and spacious. The main issue is there are only 2 pools both together and a lack of sunbeds. People put towels out early morning and these were often collected by staff if unattended. There is plenty of open space to put either more pools or just sunbed areas. The hotel does need investment to keep up with the competition.

We stayed in the RIU Palace Cabo Verde in Sal for my birthday in September 2024. I can categorically say it was the worst holiday we have ever had the displeasure to endure! The hotel is dirty and unkempt. The bedroom we had was not 5* at all. The bathroom was full of mould, the mini bar was full of ice, where is hasn’t been defrosted in a long time. The fridge was also dirty inside. The furniture was chipped and dirty, there were holes in the curtains and the sofa was ripped. We had a cockroach in our room that had climbed into our bed! The shower leaked, the toilet would constantly re-fill, the ceiling lights would constantly flash and would not turn off. We had maintenance to the room on numerous occasions and the matter was never resolved. We were violently ill and couldn’t leave our dirty, basic and below standard room, with only x2 English speaking channels…BBC news and Sky News. Exactly what you want to do when on holiday! The staff were rude and would ignore you. The staff at the pool bar wore dirty and stained uniforms for days on end; and the bar area would seldom be cleaned. The crockery and glasses in the main restaurants were also chipped and cracked. We paid over £2000 for this holiday, hating every single minute at this resort, even looking for alternative flights back to the UK. If I can give any advice, it would be to never stay in this hotel unless you want to live in squalor and be violently ill.
