We arrived at the hotel after dark and in the pouring rain. The only way to our room on the second floor was up wooden stairs which had become wet and slippery. It was very difficult trying to negotiate the steps while holding onto our luggage. The rooms were large and spacious, but with the bare minimum in each room. The bathrooms, while clean, were old and tired looking and reminded me of a changing room in a public swimming pool. There was no shower curtain separating the shower receptacle from the rest of the bathroom leading to the entire bathroom becoming wet while showering. The towels were thin and had seen better days but served the purpose. There was no tea or coffee facilities to speak of, and while there was a jug, there was no water provided. The rooms are cold with no heating; however, each bed was provided with an electric blanket to help with the cold. Breakfast was a horrific experience. There was no signage as to what on offer at the buffet, and while there was a variety of dishes displayed, they all appeared unappetizing and were tepid. There was staff standing by the door who acted more like prison guards rather than hosts supervising the guests ensuring that we cleared away our own plates and dishes. While the hotel is close to Cingjing farm, which is the reason we stayed here, it offers little else. It is in the middle of nowhere but there is a 7-Eleven about one kilometer down the road which is the only saving grace. I would not recommend staying here as it is really a second rate hostel and by no means worthy of the word "villa" in the name.
