El Pueblo Mérida

This is a superb hotel. We found this to be excellent in every way. I found the food to be fabulous. The two chefs were very welcoming and accommodating. The rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. They specialize in vegan and vegetarian food and frequently offered us a lunch as well. They have an 80 foot long pool perfect for swimming laps. It doesn't use chlorine either, so you don't smell like a pool after swimming. The rooms and common spaces are perfectly appointed with both paintings, art pieces and photographs. The location is great for both exploring and for finding a restaurant. This hotel only has 7 rooms and yet is very, very spacious. Often I felt as though I had the hotel all to myself. The room was amazing. The closet comes with all the detail to allow me to fully unpack. I had access to a washer and dryer...that was very helpful. The bedding and towels were first-class. I will definitely come back.

A strong strive for perfection. As a lone widow traveler I welcomed the warmth of the staff and looked forward for the breakfasts with the friendly chefs, the caring hotel owner and the other guests. I loved having my clothes washed right away any time of the day. I loved the advice of what trips I should take and what places are safe for a woman alone. While at the hotel I never felt alone . I found a friendly family like environment far away from my home

I would go back to Merida just to stay at El Pueblo again. Our stay was peaceful, quiet, and nourishing from start to finish. The rooms are stylish and sophisticated, with tasteful local artwork on the walls, and they are meticulously clean. The grounds are lush and beautiful, like a touch of the jungle in the middle of the city, and we loved swimming every day in the natural pool while listening to the wind chimes and watching the hummingbirds do whatever it is they do. The owner, Cecil, and his staff provide a warm welcome, and they seem to have thought of every detail to ensure guests have a wonderful stay. A talented private chef prepares fresh, healthy, and delicious breakfasts, with fresh fruit and juices, cappuccinos, overnight oats, and chilaquiles. Cecil recommended a local tour guide to take us to the cenotes, and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Also, we are learning Spanish and the staff very patiently and kindly practiced with us, which we really appreciated. I can't say I've ever stayed at a more tranquil place anywhere in the world. El Pueblo is an ideal guesthouse from which to do nothing and feel perfectly at ease. It is within easy walking distance to many cafes, shops, museums, parks, etc., but it is also completely self-contained. We look forward to returning soon.
