The Farmhouse sleeps 6. It has one private bedroom with a comfy king-size bed. There are two single beds in the loft and a full-size pull-out sofa bed in the living room. We also provide a portable crib upon request. It has a full kitchen, full-size tub with shower, washer & dryer. A 26ft private covered porch with seating and a wooded view.Enjoy a cup of locally roasted coffee or tea in the morning on your covered porch looking out into the woods, maybe spot a deer passing by or hear the distant sound of a train whistle and the breeze rustling through the trees. After breakfast, grab one of our maps and head out to explore the several hiking trails, the 9-mile Palmetto mountain bike trail, waterfalls, lakes, antique shops, arts and, crafts fairs, or festivals. Maybe play a round of golf, go whitewater rafting or attend a Clemson game, all within a 10-30 minute drive. Snow tubing and skiing are about an hour away. There is always something to do here each season. Oconee County boasts four lakes with 90,000 acres of water, two rivers, over 160 waterfalls, and endless park acreage to explore. Hiking, fishing, boating, diving, paddle boarding, and whitewater rafting are just a few of the activities you can enjoy. In the evening you can savor a meal at a local restaurant, attend a play at one of our theaters, relax and enjoy live music at a street festival, craft beer pub, or wine bar. If you are too tired from your active day to go out, then you can head back to The Farmhouse and prepare dinner in the well-appointed kitchen or on the charcoal grill, pick vegetables from our seasonal garden for a fresh salad, pop a movie in the Blu-ray player, challenge someone to a board game, or build a fire in the fire ring, make some s’mores and sit back and relax. Description Note- March 26 lake update- the lake was lowered in January for repairs and it is now filling back up. Due to the drought it is taking much longer to get to full pool. The water is up to the dock but it is still to low to jump off the dock. You can still swim and use the canoes and kayaks. Relax and enjoy the deck of this beautiful cabin or take a kayak or the canoe out on the water. Wake up and watch the morning come alive overlooking the lake from the living room and watch the sun going down each evening. Kitchen is fully equipped. The deck is perfect to grill dinner on the charcoal grill and enjoy the lake views. We have the best view on the lake. Wireless internet included. Just use your own accounts to access the many apps such as Netflix, Amazon movies, Hulu and many more. Also many DVD are available for your use, most are for children and youth. Kids indoor games and toys are available. It’s close by and takes about 2 hours in and out to the waterfall by we usually spend about 3 hours due to playing in the falls. Across the road from Yellow Branch is Stump House Tunnel. Bring flashlight. Once in the park the tunnel is to the left and the waterfall is to the right. The tunnel is completely dark and is damp inside, but fun. Short hikes but nice waterfall and interesting tunnel to nowhere. Also from our neighborhood, turn left onto Hwy 28, go to the bridge at the Chattoga River and hike upstream. I don’t know the name of this one but it’s nice and follows the river. Good fishing here also. It’s a little drive but look up Turtle Back Falls. It’s a very nice hike along a river and passes several falls. Easy to get to all 3: Bridal Veil Falls, Dry Falls, Bust your Butt Falls. Just a fun drive with easy little walks. If you just want an easy day you could drive through Highlands, see the waterfalls then drive to Clayton Ga and back to Mountain Rest Lake. Clayton traffic for about 2 miles through town can be a bear on the weekends in the fall. The lake cabin feel is carried throughout the home's interior, but the real show-stopper happens outside. The boat house has amazing views of the lake and a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator and sink for all your entertaining needs. Lake equipment and toys such as life jackets and kayaks are provided, as well as access to the dock, but BYOB-Bring Your Own Boat!
