Ty Mawr Country Hotel

The hosts were friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and at home. The building itself was fabulous; all you want for a unique experience. The stone walls were thick, log fires were dotted around and the rooms oozed character and history. The local forest walks were exhilarating. We can't wait to go back with our dogs!

Very friendly welcome, excellent room (amazingly comfy mattress), a first class meal - would definitely book again. And as we left on a Saturday morning, we bought their own freshly baked bread and Portuguese tarts - this was open to all locals who were coming in knowing how good the produce was.

We would like to express our thanks to Ty Mawr for the wonderful wedding reception in September 2024. The venue was perfect for our small wedding with the dining room comfortably seating our 24 guests. David and Gill were extremely helpful in helping us plan our order of the day including our choice of personalised menu. All our guests thoroughly enjoyed the celebration, the delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. With its historic ambience Ty Mawr is the perfect romantic setting for a Welsh country wedding.

We’ve just returned from a short break and had a thoroughly lovely time. Tŷ Mawr is an attractive country house in the centre of the village with a beautiful garden. The hospitality is superb, David and Gill can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. They’re helpful and accommodating without being overly intrusive. They have a lovely golden retriever called Buster who is very well behaved. There are 2 lounge areas which are comfortable and homely. The rooms are well appointed with wonderful comfortable beds and high quality bed linen & toiletries. The food is locally sourced and is outstanding. The breakfasts are excellent, and there is a lot of choice. Homemade focaccia bread before your meal in the evening, with wonderful tasty food from a small well thought out menu, which is plentiful. The hotel opens as a bakery on a Saturday morning for the locals. It’s obvious that David & Gill are well established within the local community. On the day we checked out local car enthusiasts were having their monthly meet, with their vehicles on display in the hotel car park. There is a lot to do in the area, more than we were able to see during our stay so another visit will be required. We particularly enjoyed The Botanical Gardens. If you’re looking for a peaceful, small well appointed hotel with fabulous food and hospitality then Tŷ Mawr is a must.

Fabulous boutique hotel with great staff - we booked really late and took their last room as they were catering for a wedding the day after our stay. its a small set up with a small team who work really hard to be a part of the local community serving locally sourced food and baking all manner of fab fare for sale in both their own restaurant and at reception as a local bakery - Their bread is amazing! - Our room was nice and big plus they welcomed our 2 dogs one of which is huge, dinner was lovely, we had guests join us so had pretty much the whole menu. We'll stay again when the weather warms a little - its a beautiful setting and a lovely part of Wales. I'd totally recommend it as fab place to stay.

A delightful hotel, very warm and welcoming hosts. We stayed two nights and had a very comfortable sleep, lovely bedding and a quiet cosy room that had everything we needed. We booked dinner for both nights and were very glad we did, the food was outstanding. I think the staff here work very hard at making everything seem effortless and easy for their guests. I would highly recommend.

We had a lovely room for 3 days and in particular thought the breakfasts were excellent. Our one evening meal showed an accomplished chef at work and there was plenty of choice. We thought the stay was extremely good value and , so far as we could see , Ty Mawr has to be the go to place within a radius of at least 20 miles. We celebrated my wife's birthday here in August and had a fabulous meal during our short but very much appreciated stay. It is a local establishment for us and we shall go back. A surprise birthday cake complete with a candle appeared at the end of our meal! I strongly recommend a stay here, you will not be dissapointed.

A perfect weekend stay once again. Had a warm welcome from David, Jill and of course Buster, Ty Mawr is as always a warm, comfortable place to stay in the tranquility of the Brechfa Forest. The food is superb with a great menu with something for everyone. As returning customers, we can’t wait to visit again soon.
