Silverland Sil Hotel

Small room but relatively clean. Feels like those insta room. Lift is very slow. But nice service, good location within little Tokyo. Lots of food nearby.

Overall good stay but think service could be better.

I am reposting this review since the hotel asked my friends to convince me to take down my original review. While I don’t agree to completely remove my original review, I do believe it can benefit from some edits. Here’s my third and most up-to-date review of Silverland Sil Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. The Good: 1 The location was amazing; you could walk out to a nice bar or explore the city without having to travel extensively. 2 The breakfast food was average (perhaps I am spoiled with good food in HCMC), but the service at the restaurant was amazing. I truly felt looked after and taken care of. The Bad: Disclaimer: Apparently, there are two sides to the same hotel—the new and old buildings. I was unlucky and was given a room in the old building, so this review is about my experience there: 1 The walls were very thin; you could hear everything your neighbor was doing—opening the door, using the bathroom—loud and clear. This is a nightmare for any light sleeper, and I recommend avoiding it if you are one. 2 There was a bad smell in the lift and the hotel rooms. They tried to mask this with some cheap diffuser scent, which instead made it worse. The bedsheets looked clean but had a very unpleasant smell. If you are sensitive to smells, don’t stay at this hotel; if you do stay, make sure to ask for a room on the new side of the building. 3 My experience with the hotel staff was not very pleasant. I followed a few friends who had booked this hotel, hoping I could get a room on the spot. The rate the hotel offered me was significantly higher than what I could see on booking platforms. When I asked the staff about the discrepancy, they explained that there was no such room available in the hotel and tried to upsell me a room with at least a 30% markup. After I booked through the app, they made me wait, saying they didn’t see the booking on their end; my booking and payment proof were not sufficient. Then it was time for the passport scan; they took my passport and flipped through every page taking photos. This is when I got frustrated and asked what was going on. They said they needed to verify my visa. Maybe this is common practice; I don’t know, I was upset and I’m sharing this for transparency. I hope this helps you make a decision about whether to stay at this hotel.

This hotel was ok, I booked a classic room so had no windows. Bathroom was small and quite dark. Location again ok.

The hotel room was small but clean and well maintained! I just wish the room had a hair dryer but otherwise super happy with my stay and would stay here again.
