The Church Accommodation

Wonderful hosts—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The individual cottages offer a perfect blend of privacy and nature, surrounded by lush plants and trees. They are spacious, well-equipped with all amenities, and conveniently located near the village center. For an unforgettable experience, take the 55-minute pre-dawn hike to Cathedral Cove at sunrise before the shuttle and water taxi services begin.

The Church was a lovely self contained apartment with all the facilities for an excellent self catering stay. The location was within easy walking distance of the beach which allowed for refreshing daily swims. Would definitely recommend the location if on the Coromandel as you will find a chilled, relaxing place to stay in the great village of Hahei.

Accommodation: Garden Studio. Very warm welcome, with all the details and advice on places to discover and shops nearby (400 m.). The accommodation is very good: everything is there and there's the possibility of having a good breakfast (with reservation the day before) which you can have, in the peace and quiet, on the little terrace. For meals, don't look any further: go directly next door to the Church Bistro. You're in for a treat. If you also want to go to Hot Water Beach, shovels and towels are available free of charge (next to reception). What more could you ask for?

The Church Cottage was our favorite lodging on our trip to North Island. The host went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and tell us about the area. The free towels for Hahei Beach and shovels to dig at Hot Water Beach were great, and the Church Bistro food and ambiance divine, but just as special was sitting on the cottage porch, drinking local wines the village wine merchant insisted were the best (he was right), eating assorted cheeses and crackers, listening to birds and looking at the surrounding jungle of foliage. Peace, comfort, bliss sums it up nicely...

We had a magnificent stay at the Church. Super lodges with very comfortable accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff, and ideally located within Hahei for getting out and about. The place has a very relaxed feel about it, and it made for a really super stay. Thoroughly recommended

We are just back from a 6 week tour of new Zealand and our stay at The Church was one of the highlights of the trip. We received a really friendly reception on arrival and were furnished with lots of really useful information on the local area and great tips with regard to visits to Cathedral Cove and Hot water Beach. We stayed in The House, which although slightly oversized for just the two of us was great accommodation and enabled us to cook meals , which after a long trip and lots of trips to restaurants we were really grateful for. The kitchen was very well equipped and there is a small General Store in Hahei which was very good, although we also stopped at the big supermarket in Tairua en route. The House was extremely clean and comfortable, particularly the pillows and beds. There was a large decking with table and chairs for eating outside and a small garden which was lovely to sit in to relax after long days on the beach and walking. The location of the The Church is just at the edge of the village of Hahei and was a pleasant walk into the village, beach and the path to Cathedral Cove. It was also close to the car park where for $7 you could get a shuttle bus up the first part of the walk to Cathedral Cove saving a walk up a steep hill. Hahei has a couple of cafes and a pub serving food, but The Church bistro is on the site of the accommodation. The bistro is well recommended although we did not try. I really recommend this accommodation, if you are staying in Hahei and suggest you add an extra day just to have a rest and relax on the beautiful beach if you are travelling.
