The Forest Lodge

Went for lunch today, and have to say the food was really nice and plenty on the plate. Really good value. The only downside was I asked for a pepsi max, which I've got to say was not pepsi, but some cheaper cola or even watered down as the taste was awful.

When we booked a room we requested a table for dinner in the restaurant. When we got there we were told dinner would be served in the bar - no reason or apology given. The bar turned out to be crowded and so noisy that we could hardly hear ourselves talk. If I want to eat in a bar then I will choose to stay at a pub but if I stay at a hotel I expect to eat in their restaurant. Food turned out to be very average pub grub and we would never recommend anyone stay here. The place is soulless.

Stayed here 8/24/24. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The pub and restaurant very good. My wife and I thought the dinner was exceptional and breakfast was very good. The service and atmosphere was great too. Parking with easy access, very appreciated. It is within walking distance of Sherwood Forest. Great place. If I am traveling through again we'll definitely look to visit here again!

Having been invited to a local History Project in Clipstone, we booked into this hotel for one night only. We arrived early and took lunch in the bar. Exceptional food was served , with steak cooked to perfection. On booking , the only room available was a small double , yes, small but big in character and included every need. Room C1. Breakfast was delicious, having chosen scrambled eggs and bacon , endless coffee, and a substantial toast rack . Finally, we must mention Neil for his professionalism, from the bar to checking us in , to showing us to our room , to serving our breakfast. He brought a smile to ones face wherever you met him. We will certainly be back.

We stayed here for 3 nighrs while attending a classic car rally. Very friendly accommodating staff. Nothing too much trouble and made us feel very welcome. Room very nice and clean. Food very good too, I especially liked the bulgar wheat risotto and the apple cake. Above all, it was the service and welcome from the staff that made our staff so pleasant, so thank you all!

The Forest Lodge is an old pub / hotel in Edwinstowe with the most hospitable staff you could ever meet. The food was excellent both for breakfast and evening meals. Service was excellent and always with a smile so all credit to Neil and Sue and the other staff whose names sorry i dont know. One member of our party was gluten free and this was catered for without any problem. I would have given this review 5 stars but our room was above the bar and given that, we heard alot of noise till closing time. If you are after early nights maybe ask for a room at the back of the hotel. All in all a great stay thank you

This was our first time here and in Edwinstowe. The hotel is very old, very steep stairs.!!Our room was classed as a small double. The room wasn’t too bad, but the bed was really small. Consequently not a good nights sleep. We ate in the pub and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ok. Not a lot of choices, but enough for us. Free and plentiful parking. Great location for lots of things to do. We also really liked Edwinstowe.

Very lovely place situated in the heart of Sherwood Forest. We were so close to the forest we were there by foot in a few minutes! The hotel appears very historical and the bar/restaurant area is just delightful. Reception area is quite small, you must make sure to adhere to the closing times as you could arrive too late to check in! We also needed to ring ahead our meal choices for the restaurant as it does short at 8pm in the dot. We arrived just in time however we were told we could order our desserts later than 8pm but that did not include the cheeseboard option seemingly, that also needs to be ordered pre 8pm. We are from London so of course we are used to dining much later however this is rural England and things do close a lot earlier! However despite not being fully aware of the timings, the chef was in good spirits and sent all courses out even though he must have worked past his finish time. The food is 10/10, lots of choices and large portions. Priced just right too. We enjoyed our evening meal so much, we went back for lunch and it was just as good as the night before. We were in a small double, originally concerned it was too small but in reality it was totally fine. The bed is a double, so just bare that in mind if you’re used to a queen +. Pillows a little flat and need replacing. Fluffy white towels, tea and coffee available and overall very comfortable. The shower pressure is just about adequate!l though! Breakfast was decent, the buffet a little underwhelming however the cooked breakfasts were superb! I would say that the eggs Benedict, although really lovely was on the small side and I could have done with a larger size! The lady serving breakfast was outstanding and made us very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. Check out was 10am, that is very early! You can pay a small fee for a late check out but the housekeeping team lovely and said not to worry, they’ll come and do our room last. Overall a lovely place, would come back again!

My wife and I enjoyed a truly amazing Indian meal at this first class pub and hotel.. Seriously it was one of the very best quality meals we have had in a long long time.. We had the Rogan Josh and it was delicious.. The naan breads were the best ever too.. Highly recommended and we’re planning another visit very soon with friends.. Spread the word it’s great food!
